The role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced System Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent networking skills, extensive experience in Unix administration, and a solid understanding of Windows OS and Active Directory. The System Administrator will be responsible for handling support and maintenance tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Unix/Linux servers, ensuring their availability, performance, and security.
- Administer Windows servers, including configuration, updates, and troubleshooting.
- Manage and configure Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, and permissions.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring network security through the application of firewall rules, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Monitor system performance and provide regular reports to management.
- Perform regular backups and ensure data recovery processes are in place.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Collaborate with the IT team to implement new technologies and improve system performance.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and updates.
- Provide 2nd line technical support to end-users and resolve their IT-related issues.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in Unix/Linux administration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS and Active Directory.
- Excellent networking skills, including knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Familiarity with multiple information technologies, including web servers (Apache, Nginx), databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), monitoring systems (experience with Zabbix is a plus), server configuration and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, etc.), and virtualization platforms (VMware).
- Familiarity with high availability, disaster recovery, and load balancer concepts (experience with Haproxy, Nginx is a plus).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
- Understanding of AWS networking and related technologies is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, RHCSA, MCSA) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).
- Vendor-specific knowledge is not mandatory but familiarity with the following technologies will be a plus:
- Cisco CLI
- F5 Big-IP
- WatchGuard Firebox
- VMware (ESXi, vCenter)
