Specialist (rank) in working with communities in The Right to Protection, CF

BF "Right to Defense" (hereinafter - the Foundation) is a recognized leader of the human rights movement in Ukraine. The Foundation has strong positions in the field of protection of the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees and stateless persons. Since the beginning of the war in Eastern Ukraine, the Foundation has been monitoring the situation of protection of the rights of IDPs, providing legal and psychosocial assistance and strengthening the humanitarian response in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Today the Fund works in almost all regional centers and communities within the respective regions. The Fund is an executive partner of the UNHCR and implements programs for the provision of direct legal assistance throughout Ukraine, promotes changes in the national legal framework, bringing it into line with international standards in the field of human rights. 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

"PATH: Protection, Assistance, Togetherness and Hope", aimed at comprehensive and multisectoral assistance for people with disabilities, the elderly, women, the most vulnerable girls and boys and their caregivers, many of whom face isolation and barriers to access to humanitarian services. Project geography: Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk regions. We provide support to internally displaced persons (in particular, those living in temporary accommodation), vulnerable categories of the local population, as well as local civil society organizations. The aid is provided with the support of the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (HFU/UHF).

Duties and tasks

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Monitoring Specialist, and the overall direction of the Coordinator of the Protection Monitoring Program, the employee must:

• According to the approved plan, make trips to the communities in order to fulfill the tasks provided by the project;

• Establish and maintain relations with representatives of local self-government bodies, state institutions, social institutions, educational institutions, emergency services, etc.;

• Establish and maintain relations with initiative groups existing in communities and promote the creation of new initiative groups or public associations;

• Provide non-legal consultations to local government representatives and initiative groups;

• Monitor existing community services, including social, active local and regional programs and beneficiaries' access to decision-making;

• Promote the access of community residents to decision-making in the community by organizing the activities of working groups on protection issues;

• Identify the needs of beneficiaries in communities and participate in the creation of a mechanism for responding to such needs;

• Identify existing gaps in the field of protection in communities; develop an action plan to overcome such gaps; determine priority needs of beneficiaries;

• Contribute to the initiation and implementation of initiatives in the field of protection at the community level;

• Contribute to the creation of coordination, working groups and advisory bodies;

• According to the existing methodology, conduct stakeholder surveys, organize and conduct focus group research;

• Organize and conduct groupsand sessions and activities;

• Submit reports in a timely manner;

  • knowledge of facilitation techniques will be an advantage;

  • ability to collect and analyze information in accordance with the goals and objectives of the project;

  • understanding humanitarian principles;

  • knowledge and skills regarding signs of violence, trauma, exploitation will be an advantage;

  • self-motivation;

  • flexibility;

  • ability to work in a team;

  • obey the Code of Conduct and Foundation Policies;

  • own car will be an advantage.
