GENERAL INFORMATION

BF "Right to Defense" (hereinafter - the Fund) is a sector leader in the protection of people who have suffered from war, veterans, refugees and stateless persons. We seek recovery and integration for those we help. Our team protects people's rights and influences laws and decisions in Ukraine and the world to become fairer. We are actively developing a network of partners for localized support of those who need it. The fund is 13 years old. Today, the team of BF "Right to Defense" has about 1,200 specialists. Geography: 22 regions of Ukraine, as well as a representative office in Poland. More than 3,300,000 people have received aid since the start of the full-scale invasion. Our work was recognized at the national level: in 2024, the Foundation won first place in the "Charity Ukraine" competition in the "All-Ukrainian Charity" category, entered the top 10 of the Forbes Ukraine "50 Best Charitable Organizations" rating, and took 9th place in the integrity rating of Ukrainian charitable foundations.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

BF "Right to Defense" is a partner of the Response Consortium within the framework of the implementation of the project "Provision of multi-sectoral humanitarian aid to the population affected by the conflict in Ukraine (2023-2026)" with the financial support of the US Government. The Response Consortium is implementing a multi-sectoral humanitarian aid program for the population affected by the conflict in Ukraine. The Goal is to strengthen people's resilience and ability to overcome the consequences of war through timely access to multisectoral support and quality information management. The target groups are internally displaced persons, people who have suffered from war, returnees after the reduction of the intensity of hostilities, with the priority of supporting elderly people and persons with disabilities.

The project is implemented in regions and communities, including those with a high level of security risks (in particular, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhya, Mykolaiv, Kherson regions). The Right to Defense Foundation organizes working conditions taking into account the security context and provides measures to reduce risks and protect the team.

The psychological service works as one of the Foundation's activities to ensure the process of psychological adaptation of the civilian population that suffered and continues to suffer from the war in Ukraine. We work to restore mental supports and teach self-help for stabilization in stress and crisis situations. Psychologists in the structure of this project receive tasks and work according to the methodology of the Program of psychological assistance and counter-violence of the BF "Right to Defense".

OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 10-12 sessions per beneficiary, taking into account the stage of recovery and the actual needs. font-style: text-decoration">Psychological support in interaction with the project

    Providing psychological support aimed atstabilization of emotional state, reducing the level of anxiety, working with feelings of shame, fear, guilt and other consequences of a traumatic experience.

  • According psychological work plan taking into accountthe safety, autonomy and readiness of the beneficiary, without coercion to disclose the traumatic experience.

  • Redirection of beneficiaries to the appropriate services.

  • Providing information about available assistance services for victims of domestic violence.

  • Documentation and regular reporting in compliance with confidentiality standards.

  • Participation in supervisions, methodological meetings and training modules.

  • Adherence to security policies, ethical standards and internal procedures of the Foundation.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Higher education in the field of psychological, social or humanitarian sciences.

  • Specialization courses on working with stress, trauma or consequences of war.

  • Additional education or training on the subject of human rights, work with victims of violence, psychosocial support in safe spaces - will be an advantage.

  • Completion of certified psychotherapy training in one or more methods (or pre-certification stage) will be a significant advantage.

  • A completed course in psychiatry propaedeutics will be a significant advantage.

  • Experience: from 3 years.

  • Personal therapy: from 50 hours.

  • Ability to establish contact with other colleagues and coordinate joint tasks.

Competencies of a psychologist that we expect from a successful candidate (even if the professional requirements do not correspond to the list above):

  • Readiness to perceive and contain affective reactions and manifestations of emotions: rage, aggression, despair, powerlessness, etc.

  • Personal level of resilience when faced with potentially traumatic circumstances.

  • Proactivity and the ability to initiate contact first.

  • The skill of active listening is developed.

  • Developed skill to quickly create and maintain a level of trust in communication.

  • The ability to apply psychological first aid techniques and self-regulation techniques in stress, the ability to convey this information in an accessible form.

  • Knowledge of basic techniques of crisis assistance and the basics of working with grief and loss.

  • Developed the skill of reflecting one's own state, separating one's own emotions from the emotions of the interlocutor.

  • Knowledge of the principles of a humanitarian approach to work with victims of natural disasters.

  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, ethics, maintain confidentiality and ensure the safety of victims.

  • Contract until July 31, 2026 with the possibility of extension, depending on further funding and personal performance.
