InternationalSolidarity (SI) is an international humanitarian non-governmental organization that for more than 40 years has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters, providing the vital needs of food, water and shelter. In particular, SI is involved in the fight against diseases related to unsafe water, which is one of the leading causes of death in the world. SI provides expertise in access to drinking water, improved sanitation and hygiene, and food security and livelihoods. With a presence in approximately twenty countries, SI teams — a total of 2,000 people, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent headquarters staff and volunteers — work with professionalism and commitment while respecting culture. to combat all forms of abuse – all acts of exploitation, abuse and/or sexual harassment (SEX) against members of beneficiary communities, fraud, corruption, violation of the rights of persons and/or property, financing of activities that harm human rights – that may be carried out within the framework of its intervention. Under the supervision of the WASH-Shelter Program Manager and Lead Manager, the Housing, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Specialistwill manage and monitor work projects to meet deadlines and technical requirements.
KEY DUTIES:
Organization and operational monitoring
- Under the guidance of the program manager and/or team leader, participate in logistical and administrative activities, planning and preparation of construction and repair facilities
- Provide construction and/or support of construction works, using, in particular, SI tools :
- Oversee workgroups, contractors and communities and ensure the best use of available resources
- Organize, plan and monitor community participation
- Anticipate any problems related to the management of his/her activities and propose solutions to avoid them
- Manage the supply of materials on the construction site, cooperating with the logistics department
- Report to the program manager and/or team leader on the status of decentralized inventory ("field" inventory) at his/her facilities.
- Participate in the assessment of technical competence of contractors
- Respect SI administrative procedures before, during and after each work project
- Implement safety and security measures for each type of activity and ensure compliance with these rules by employees under his/her supervision and the public
Reporting/Communication/Representation
- Keep your monitoring tools and files in the SI office, accessible by the team leader and/or project manager
- Participate in the preparation of reports on the progress of the project under the leadership of the team leader
- Participate in seminars and trainings related to conducting events and achieving project goals
- Report to the management on the progress of activities and specific tasks that he/she received, on the problems that arise and on the quality of relations with recipients of charitable assistance
- Report all information or concerns related to his/her activities, SI programs or security issues
- Receive feedback from the affected population and local authorities in order to identify any needs, complaints or important events that may affect SI activities
- Analyze the humanitarian situation, taking into account humanitarian principles and approaches in the field of protection of the affected population
- Support close cooperation and informing about SI activities of local self-government bodies and all interested parties (recipients of charitable assistance, clusters and other coordinating organizations)
- Participate in meetings of coordinating bodies (clusters, working groups)
REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES:
Oworld: university, in the field of civil or industrial construction or water supply. Or specialized technical education in the field of water supply and drainage, construction and hydraulic engineering.
Experience: in a similar position in the humanitarian sector with technical skills in the field of construction and repair work, water supply and drainage - will be an advantage
Knowledge of languages: Englishis an advantage, Ukrainian is native
Knowledge ofITprograms: Professional use of the MS Office package, experience and knowledge of drawing and modeling programs (Adobe Acrobat, Autocad, Vector and others) will be an advantage
Qualifications: Excellent understanding of the general construction process, ability to compile a list of works and necessary materials, good knowledge of national construction standards, water supply and drainage standards (residential construction, general construction, civil construction, water supply)
Personal qualities: Responsibility, ability to work in a team, communication, attention to details, punctuality, tact.
TERMS OF WORK:
Place of work: offices at the address: Dnipro, possible business trips to Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Donetsk region
Contract: fixed-term employment contract for 6 months (according to Ukrainian legislation)
Type of employment: full-time
Salary: 1240 EUR gross (paid in hryvnias, according to the monthly exchange rate of the bank of the European Commission).

- Under the supervision of the Activity Manager take part in logistical and administrative organization and the planning and preparation of job sites
he construction and/or the maintenance of construction work using Solidarites International tools (in particular):
- Supervise operational teams, contractors and communities, and ensure the best use of available resources
- Organize, plan and supervise community participation
- Anticipate any problems associated with the management of his/her activity and propose solutions to avoid them
- Manage the supply of worksite materials by collaborating with the logistics department
- Report to the project manager and/or team leader on the state of decentralized stock (‘field’ stock) on his/her sites.
- Take part to the evaluation of the technical competence of contractors
- Respect Solidarites administrative procedures before, during and after each work project
- Establish safety and security measures for each activity and ensure that these rules are respected by the workforce under his/ her supervision and by the population
Reporting/communication /representation
- Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarites office, accessible to his/her team leader and/or project manager
- Take part in the drafting of project progress reports under the supervision of his/her team leader
- Take part in seminars and workshops related to the carrying-out of activities and to project objectives
- Report to the Activity Manager regarding the development of activities and specific tasks that he/she has been assigned, any problems encountered and the quality of relations with the beneficiaries
- Report back all information or problems linked to his/her activity, Solidarites programs or safety issues
- Listen to the local population and authorities in order to identify any needs, complaints, or major events which could affect the activities of Solidarites
- Analyze the humanitarian situation by taking into account protection issues/Do No Harm to the population
- Collaborate with local authorities and administration
- Take part in restitution meetings and clusters on request
PROFILE FORSAKEN:
Studies: Higher education in civil or industrial engineering, water supply and water treatment. Civil/ water engineering or technical degree in water/sewage engineering, construction and hydraulic
Experience: in a similar position in the humanitarian sector with technical skills in terms of water/shelter
Language: English is an asset, Ukrainian – native
IT: Professional with the use of MSc Office pack
Qualification: Excellent understanding of general construction process, ability to create list of works “to do” and materials needed, Good knowledge of national construction, water and sewage standards and (residential construction, general construction, civil engineering, water supply).
Soft skills: Responsibility, teamwork skills, communication skills, attention to details, punctuality, tactfulness.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Place of work: the office is located in the city of Dnipro, possible business trips to Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk regions
