Our Client is a Berlin-based online travel agency and online marketplace which sells tour guides and excursions, and also activities including cooking classes, and tickets to many tourists’ attractions. It offers more than 40,000 products worldwide.
Backed by leading venture capital investors, our Client has raised over $650 million in funding to date and has over 600 employees spread across offices worldwide.
Currently, we are building a world-class travel e-commerce product to help the company scale and serve millions of customers.
As a Java Engineer, you will be working on developing best in class software products for our travel marketplace. Currently, our Client is in a strong growth phase and is working on building world-class travel e-commerce products to help us scale and serve millions of customers. What you will do

• Integration with new travel providers APIs and support of the existing ones. Both the creation of new integrations and the migration of old ones (originally in PHP).
• Collaborate with engineering teams across company to support travellers and suppliers
• Build awesome user-facing products / features.
• Create new ideas with our product team to constantly improve the experience.
• Implement unit and integration tests.

What you need for this

• Good understanding of design patterns.
• Understanding of unit test frameworks.
• Algorithmic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean) and engineering practices (continuous integration, continuous delivery, test-driven development).
• Fluent English and good communication skills, ability to express complex things in an easy to pick-up manner.

Will be a plus:

• Experience with Bootstrap.
• Understanding of common architectural concepts, patterns and approaches.
• Understanding with Microservices Architecture and cloud services.
• Understanding on how to operate at scale and have a cloud DevOps / infrastructure mindset (Kubernetes).
