Main objective:
Participate in the planning, supervision and coordination of mental health and psychosocial support services within the program in accordance with MSF standards in order to provide beneficiaries with the most appropriate mental health support.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in planning, organizing and coordinating mental health activities in close collaborating with the mental health activity manager and other members of the medical team to ensure the effective and efficient use of necessary resources while maintaining the high quality standards of MSF's mental health programs and activities.
- Coordinate the activities of consultation services with other relevant actors and interact with local partners (such as MOH, WHO, NGOs such as IRC, DRC) on mental health health and psychosocial support, including referral of beneficiaries to appropriate professionals.
- Oversee daily mental health and support activities for beneficiaries in accordance with MSF protocols and standards to provide the most appropriate care to beneficiaries with psychosocial needs.
- Interact with other MSF team members within the scope of the project.
- Oversee related processes (recruitment, training/on-boarding, feedback, potential identification, development and communication) of subordinates in close coordination with HR to ensure the required number and level of expertise.
- Control administrative processes related to psychosocial functioning.
- When necessary (e.g. in the absence of team members), provide psychological support to beneficiaries in accordance with MSF protocols to improve their mental health and functional capacity.
- Collect data and statistics related to mental health activities and report to the Mental Health Manager.
- Provide clinical supervision of counseling to mental health professionals in collaboration with the Mental Health Operations Manager.
- Ensure confidentiality of information relating to beneficiaries.
MSF Unit Features:
- Collaborate with medical teams when assessing mobile clinic locations with regard to mental health and psychosocial support needs.
- Collaborate with mental health and medical teams to ensure appropriate scheduling of mental health professionals at locations identified as those with the highest level of need.
- Support mental health team members in managing active cohorts of beneficiaries, ensuring an appropriate balance between group work, training and individual case management according to protocols.
- Develop a schedule and, with the support of the Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM), where possible, implement monthly group supervision and weekly/fortnightly individual supervision.
- Develop appropriate group and individualized training plans for mental health team members based on identified training needs.
- Collaborate with medical teams to support capacity development of other teams in relevant mental health and social support (MHPSS) issues.
- Support the development and, if necessary, the implementation of science-based capacity building trainings for medical workers of the Ministry of Health.
- With the support of the Mental Health Manager, contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for the Mental Health team.
- Ensure the implementation of protocols related to specific activities and vulnerable populations, such as TB patients, families of missing persons, remote counseling, MOH health workers, emergency response activities.
- In the absence of a mental health activity manager, be able to provide a clear support plan for the health project coordinator on how will be managed.
- With the support of the Mental Health Manager / Medical Project Coordinator, implement a feedback process for members of the mental health team.
- As needed and at the request of the Mental Health Manager and/or coordinatorHealth Project Manager to support the development and implementation of new activities not previously specified.
- Support the Mental Health Activity Manager and Health Project Coordinator to ensure appropriate confidentiality measures are in place for patient information (file storage, archiving, data coding, referral management)
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor's and Master's degree in psychosocial support or related fields are mandatory.
Experience:
- Experience in psychosocial counseling and/or psychotherapy for at least 2 years
- Previous work experience in MSF or another non-governmental organization is desirable.
Knowledge of languages: fluent in Ukrainian; knowledge of the English language is desirable.
