Purpose of the position:

Leading specialist in sustainable issues of innovative financing is responsible for the development, implementation and scaling of innovative and sustainable financial mechanisms in order to ensure the long-term financial stability of the programs of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine. The position involves active participation in resource mobilization, building partnerships with donors, financial institutions, and businesses, as well as integrating innovative financial approaches into the organization's social, humanitarian, and restorative programs. 

The role combines analytical, project and partnership components and is key to the development of blended finance, social investment, grant and alternative financing, which support the strategic priorities of TCHU.

Main responsibilities:

  • Participation in the formation of operational directions of sustainable financing to support social, humanitarian and state/business projects.  
  • Development of resource mobilization plans for long-term financial support of programs.  
  • Development of mechanisms for implementing innovative financing mechanisms (crowdfunding, social bonds, blended finance, grant financing, etc.).  
  • Search and involvement of national and international donors, investors and partners.  
  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with international financial institutions, funds and business structures.  
  • Preparation of project proposals, memoranda of cooperation, agreements with partners and investors.  
  • Ensuring control over the use of financial resources in accordance with established policies and procedures.  
  • Preparation of regular reporting on the implementation of programs, use of resources and achievement of performance indicators.  
  • Monitoring financial risks and developing measures to minimize them.  
  • Study of new financial instruments and models of innovative financing.  
  • Evaluation of market opportunities for attracting investments and grants for supportof social, humanitarian and state/business projects.  
  • Development of recommendations for increasing the financial sustainability of programs.  
  • Participation in the development of strategic plans for the development of the organization in the field of financing.  
  • Interaction with other units to integrate financial approaches into the organization's programs.  
  • Development and implementation of trainings and exercises to improve the financial literacy of employees.  
 
  • Support of internal consultations for program divisions regarding the selection of optimal financial instruments. 
  • Participation in working groups, forums, conferences and events related to sustainable and innovative financing. 
  • Analysis of international practices and trends in the field of social and humanitarian funding with further adaptation for the needs of the TRC.
  • General duties:

    • Actively work to achieve the goals of the TRC.
    • Adhere to the principles of the Red Cross Movement and work in accordance with them.
    • Perform any other work-related tasks and duties for on behalf of the immediate supervisor.

    Requirements for the candidate:

    • Full higher education (specialist, master or doctor of philosophy) in the field of economics, finance, international relations, public administration or related areas.
    • Experience in the mobilization of financial resources, project management and implementation of sustainable development programs for at least 3 years.
    • Work experience with international donors, funds and investment structures will be an advantage.
    • Basic knowledge of modern financial instruments and approaches in the field of sustainable and innovative financing (grant financing, blended finance, social investments, crowdfunding, etc.).
    • Practical skills in preparing project proposals, concept notes, financial models and budgets for donors, investors and partners.
    • Understanding the principles of financial stability programs, financial risk management and monitoring the use of funds.
    • Experience of interaction with international donors, foundations, financial institutions or the private sector.
    • Ability to carry out an analytical assessment of market opportunities, program needs and potential sources of funding.
    • High skills in business communication, preparation of official correspondence, presentations and negotiations.
    • A confident user of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), experience with CRM systems and digital platforms for managing projects or finances. 
    • Knowledge of international standards and approaches in the field of sustainable development, social investment or ESG is desirable Facilitation skills, conducting trainings or internal training sessions on financial topics.
    • Understanding the specifics of financing humanitarian, social or recovery programs in crisis or post-crisis contexts will be an advantage. 
    • Ability to conduct an analytical assessment of market opportunities, program needs and potential sourcesfinancing will be an advantage.
    • Ability to work with large amounts of information, systematize data and prepare analytical reports and reports is desirable.
    • Fluent command of the Ukrainian language.
    • Proficiency in English at the B1 level and above.
    • Knowledge of other foreign languages ​​will be an advantage.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to cooperate and work in a team. 
    • Ability to make decisions.
    • Ability to cooperate with partners/contractors, local organizations will be an advantage.
    • Ability to apply non-standard/innovative solutions in work.
