The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is the leading agency for protection, advocacy and the promotion of long-term solutions for displaced populations.

< p style="font-style: normal; font-weight: 400">DRB has been working in Ukraine since 2014, currently more than 700 employees work in DRB in Ukraine and in 2023 will continue a significant expansion to implement response to emergency situations in the fields of social - legal protection, livelihoods, housing/non-food restoration, humanitarian disarmament and peace building (humanitarian mine action), through direct intervention, support civil society organizations (CSOs) and partnerships with CSOs.

DRB is currently looking for a leading specialist in social issues legal protection (case management) for activities in Kharkiv.

This position reports to the head of the project team on social and legal protection.

General purpose of the role:

Under the guidance of the Social Protection Team Leader, the Lead Social Protection Specialist will provide case management services to vulnerable people. Case management is a structured form of support that aims to provide emotional support to vulnerable people people in need and helping them access services and information You will work closely with communities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and government agencies to identify vulnerable people in need of support, provide services and share information about available services. The successful candidate will work in the DRB office in Kharkiv and will participate in trips to the Kharkiv region.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provide case management services to vulnerable individuals, including conducting client needs assessments, developing action plans, sharing information and making referrals to other service providers, as well as following up with the client.
  • < li>Make safe referrals of clients to other service providers as needed, including medical, legal, shelter services, and support clients by advocating for their needs in other institutions.
  • Provide cash or in-kind assistance vulnerable persons, aimed at reducing the risks associated with issues of social and legal protection.
  • Provide technical support to the assistant on issues of social and legal protection and ensure the high quality of his/her work.
  • Establish and liaise with relevant government and non-government agencies providing services for the purpose of safe referrals.
  • Conduct awareness and education sessionsfor stakeholders to share information about case management services provided by the DRB and other informational topics on social and legal protection issues.
  • Provide targeted individual assistance (e.g. cash grants) to direct and indirect victims from accidents related to explosive objects/explosive weapons, which will contribute to the improvement of their socio-economic situation.
  • Provide support in the development and implementation of age, gender and disability inclusive training (GDI), as well as any other capacity-building activities on victim assistance for relevant target groups (for example, children, teaching staff, government officials, etc.).
  • Participate in the development of information booklets and brochures to raise awareness, and also ensure their distribution in accordance with the instructions received.
  • Complete and ensure safe storage of documentation regarding the activities carried out, including referral forms and informed consent forms.
  • Coordinate work with others DRC departments to facilitate referrals and information sharing.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to donors, as well as maintain and update program documentation.
  • Participate in the preparation of new project funding proposals and provide information related to field activities.
  • Provide regular reports to the head of the social and legal protection team and/or the social and legal protection manager.
  • Any other assignments , who may be appointed by the Head of the Social and Legal Protection Group/Manager of Social and Legal Protection Issues, which relate to the achievement of social and legal issues goals.

About you:

To be successful in this position, we expect you to have excellent communication skills and at least 2 years of experience in the field of case management.

In addition, we also expect:

  • Confidence in communicating on sensitive topics and working with people in distress.
  • Understanding the basics of social work, case management, counseling, etc. is desirable but not a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with vulnerable individuals, employees and stakeholders of various profiles.
  • Team management experience is desirable.
  • < li>Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong sense of personal integrity and understanding of privacy and ethics.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange.
  • Proficiency in English at an above average level.
  • Proficiency in Ukrainian is mandatory.
