The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization that promotes and supports long-term solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. 

DRB is currently looking for a Junior security specialist, to join our team in the city of Mykolaiv.

General purpose of the role:

As a Junior Security Officer, you will provide technical support to the security team, field office and program teams on all DRB security planning policies, procedures and standards. You will report directly to the Security Team Leader. You will maintain relevant safety documentation, data and records (attendance lists, training register, incident tracking, maps, etc.).

Your main job responsibilities will be:

  • Provide briefings and inform the security team about changes in the security context.
  • Assess the potential impact of changes in the security context on DRB program activities.
  • Provide pre- and post-arrival briefings for new employees (national and international).
  • Provide support in managing the DRB security information portal (SharePoint), ensuring it is up-to-date, relevant and accessible to a wide range of users.
  • Provide technical support to the security team, ensure the ability to support and maintain all normal business processes for the DRB South Regional Office. 
  • Perform security related procurement for office space, guest houses, security needs of field teams and fleet of vehicles for the entire regional office, including the Humanitarian Demining Unit. 
  • Ensure timely review, proper preservation and storage of security-related resources.  
  • Act as procurement coordinator for all necessary security related equipment, facilities and other resources.
  • Maintain all security/communication equipment, review and update all security documentation, database, trackers, lists related to the security department in the Southern Regional Office DRB.

About you:

To be successful in this position, we expect you to have at least 1 year of experience in security, security or related fields, preferably in an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO).

We also expect the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Security or in any other related field.

  • Proven ability to prioritize, complete tasks and meet deadlines under stressful conditions.

  • Digital Literacy: Proficiency in MS Office programs, including Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in graphics, design or data visualization tools preferred.

  • Proven ability to work effectively under supervision, training and reporting.

  • Proven ability to understand and communicate in basic English in language

  • Excellent relationship-building, interpersonal communication skills and the ability to represent the DRB in a dignified manner.

Salary andthe conditions will be in accordance with the Conditions of Employment of the staff of the Danish Refugee Council in Ukraine.
