Purpose of the position:The Red Cross Society of Ukraine (Red Cross Society of Ukraine) is looking for an energetic and forward-looking manager of a humanitarian project/projects. Reporting to the head of the Project Management Division of the Project Coordination Department and the Program Director, the project manager must ensure the successful implementation of the project/projects by managing and monitoring the project/projects at all stages of the project cycle, ensuring overall quality. Success in this role will require close and effective collaboration with the Donor/Donors across projects, internal departments and an understanding of the project and program management cycle.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Management projects
  • Participate in the planning and development of the project/projects implementation process, as well as proactively monitor progress, solving problems and initiating appropriate corrective actions in coordination with technical departments and donor/donors
  • Provide support in project/project management (monitor budget, timelines, achievement of goals together with technical departments, ensuring effective allocation and spending of funds in accordance with financial requirements TCHU and donor/donors)
  • Coordinate the activities of technical departments and provide them with support to ensure high quality of project implementation, verification and consolidation of project reports, communication materials and other reports stipulated by the contract with the donor/donors, ensuring their timely submission
  • Communicate with donor(s) representatives regarding project(s) results, changes and progress
  • Collaborate with the PMER Department to ensure implementation of monitoring, evaluation and accountability processes that ensure feedback is taken into account in project(s) development
  • As appropriate, facilitate, coordinate and participate in evaluations, conferences, workshops, communities of practice and in/or other activities related to the support of the project/projects
  • Control the relevance of the documentation of the project/projects.
  • Communication support with partners/Donors
  • Communicate and coordinate the provision of support by the units of the TCHU. This may include the process of identifying support needs, developing plans and overseeing their implementation
  • Participating in and contributing to the development of new projects and proposals in line with the strategy of the TCHU

Additional responsibilities:

  • Participation in meetings for the development and improvement of approaches to project management and business processes of TCHU
  • Participation in other issues related to the activities of the Project Coordination Department

General duties:

  • Actively work to achieve the goals of the Red Cross.
  • Perform any other work-related tasks and duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Higher education or equivalent (preferably in project/program management or related fields, particularly in the social sciences) 
  • Understanding of key humanitarian response practices and standards such as SPHERE and others would be an advantage
  • General financial, administrative, information and telecommunication skills, as well as IT skills
  • Experience in managing projects in humanitarian crises or in a development context will be an advantage
  • Previous work experience in a NGO in a similar position or in an organization (experience working with Donors ECHO, USAID, OCHA, BHA, FCDO and others will be a significant advantage)
  • Project management, including planning and drafting schedules, process development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Ability to influence and negotiate, implement change and provide remote support
  • High communication skills
  • English at B2 and above required
