DRB has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRB has more than 800 employees in Ukraine, and the organization will continue to expand significantly in 2022 to implement emergency response in the social and legal protection sectors, provide means to livelihoods, housing/non-food kits and humanitarian demining and peacebuilding (humanitarian mine safety activities) using direct intervention, support from duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRB will continue to adapt its portfolio of long-term solutions to the changing context.
DRB is currently looking for a Gender-Based Violence Project Team Leader for its activities in Chernihiv Oblast with possible trips to neighboring regions.
This position will report to the Social Security Manager.
General purpose of the role:
Under the guidance of manager of social and legal protection, head of the gender-based violence project team will monitor the implementation of measures to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls. He/she will be responsible for the management and supervision of the GBV response team, providing leadership and support to the team, ensuring that its staff have the skills and resources necessary to provide effective victim-centred care. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring that the GBV program is coordinated with other social and legal protection measures. He/she will participate in coordination meetings and represent the DRB in relevant forums. He/she will be based in the DRB office in Chernihiv, and will carry out field activities in Chernihiv and neighboring regions.
We encourage those candidates who do not have experience working with women and girls affected by violence, but who are interested in this field - they will undergo on-the-job training.
Main duties:
Under the supervision of the manager of social and legal protection the gender-based violence project team leader will:
- Manage and oversee the implementation of interventions to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls, including planning, monitoring and evaluation. Develop work plans, ensure quality programming, and manage program budgets and resources.
- Oversee and manage the anti-IED team by providing guidance and support, facilitating team meetings, and conducting performance reviews.
- Supervise and supervise case management activities performed by junior anti-terrorist specialists as directed. Case management (case management) is a structured method of supporting women and girls,victims of violence, including emotional support and helping them access services. Ensure that documentation related to case management is securely maintained and completed correctly.
- Continuously develop the capacity of members of the anti-GBM team and other key stakeholders in the prevention of GBM, including through training and mentoring . Support the development of project tools and resources in coordination with the lead specialist in countering AML.
- Coordinate with other organizations and stakeholders working in the same field to ensure the integration and effectiveness of prevention and response efforts violence against women and girls, participate in coordination meetings and represent the DRC in relevant forums; develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant partner institutions, community focal points and service providers.
- Maintain an up-to-date map of service providers operating in the region.
- Develop contextualized key messages and materials, including outreach materials, to raise awareness and build capacity.
- Identify strategies to reduce women and girls' vulnerability to violence and support the integration of these strategies in humanitarian programs.
- Ensure accurate and timely reports are provided to donors and program documentation is maintained and updated.
- Provide fieldwork data needed to prepare new project funding applications.

Experience and competencies required:
- Commitment to gender equality and interest in working to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls
- Awareness of women's protection or women's rights issues such as empowerment programs, reproductive health, counselling, etc.
- Comfort in communicating about sensitive topics and working with people in distress.
- Prior experience managing a team or supervising team members is desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with victims, staff and various stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and juggle multiple responsibilities.
- Strong sense of own moral principles and understanding of privacy and ethics.
- Experience with Microsoft packages, including Powerpoint and Teams is desirable.
- Knowledge of the English language.
- Knowledge of the Ukrainian language is mandatory.
