Food Security and Livelihoods Department Field Assistant in Samaritan`s Purse

"Samaritans Perse" is a non-denominational evangelical Christian organization, the purpose of which is to provide spiritual and physical assistance to affected people around the world.  Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has been helping to provide for the needs of people who have become victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine, seeking to spread God's love through God's Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the Church around the world by preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Job Description

The field assistant will work directly with representatives of local communities in the Kharkiv region and to support the process of selecting beneficiaries and distributing seeds, toolkits for working on the land, chickens and compound feed to these beneficiaries. This role involves communicating with beneficiaries living in rural areas, organizing logistics and ensuring a fair and transparent distribution process. The Field Assistant will also maintain documentation and work closely with other team members to meet the needs of the communities where the project will take place. 

Job Responsibilities 

• Assist in the identification and selection of appropriate beneficiaries to participate in program activities.
• Close coordination with local authorities and relevant cluster partners to ensure coherence of efforts.
• Assist in the distribution of aid to beneficiaries, following organized procedures.
• Making visits to the served households for morale and process monitoring.
• Assisting the households in managing the farm
• Prepare internal reports and trackers to track project progress. 
• Communicate any potential problems or challenges to management, including the program manager.
• Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, suppliers, beneficiaries and the general public.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently in the Kharkiv region at a distance of at least 60 km from the front line.

• Experience of working in an NGO with rural households and communities.
• Willingness to travel to rural areas for direct interaction with project beneficiaries.
• Willingness to show support to project beneficiaries. 
• Knowledge of vegetable and poultry production is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and openness to effective collaboration.
• Ability to take initiative, solve problems independently and work with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility and adaptability to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
• Competence in completing internal reports accurately and on time.
• User skillsMicrosoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Valid driver's license and availability of personal transport for trips to workplaces; travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Education/Experience Requirements

• Bachelor or secondary special education.
• Experience working with the rural population, the elderly, IDPs, vulnerable populations affected by war.

Language

Required knowledge of the Ukrainian language, knowledge of the English language will be an advantage. Ability to read and understand documents in English and Ukrainian. Ability to draw up current reports and conduct correspondence in Ukrainian and English.

Ability to think logically

Ability to solve practical tasks and work with a variety of specific variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to understand a variety of written and verbal instructions in the form of diagrams or graphs.

8:30am-5:00pm, MON-FRI
