DRIVER

Médecins Sans Frontières/ Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international humanitarian organization that provides assistance in more than 60 countries around the world to populations in difficult situations, victims of natural disasters, man-made disasters and armed conflicts, regardless of their race, religion or political beliefs.

MSF is a civil society initiative that unites people who want to help other people in crisis situations. Thus, MSF is an association by its own choice.

Everyone who works with MSF does so out of conviction and is willing to support the organization's values and principles.

Main purpose:

Perform the tasks of transporting authorized cargo and passengers in the MSF vehicle, ensure its technical and safety conditions and comply with the country's traffic rules and MSF safety rules to ensure safe, smooth and efficient operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily inspection of the technical condition of the assigned vehicle (condition of tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), carrying out a weekly inspection of the vehicle in accordance with the MSF logbook, refueling the vehicle as necessary and keeping it clean to ensure that it can be driven in ideal conditions. Making a handover if the vehicle will be driven by another driver;
  • Ensuring the safety of the passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, obeying the speed limits and traffic rules of the country and MSF safety rules to avoid accidents;
  • Ensuring that all passengers have all the necessary documents with them before the trip and ensuring that non-MSF staff sign waivers responsibilities before using the vehicle;
  • Ensuring proper loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting documents to the recipient of the goods, checking the status of the delivered goods, returning properly completed documents to the logistics department and ensuring that the goods have all the necessary documents;
  • Ensuring that all vehicle documents and driver's licenses are valid and in the vehicle;
  • Informing the line supervisor about any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or cargo;
  • Know how to use all types of radio stations, codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicate with the base according to communicationsof MSF policy to report the driver's location and any possible consequences.
  • Know and follow safety rules related to vehicle movement, including customs, checkpoints and roadblocks;
  • Ensure that all passengers know and follow safety rules.
  • Daily cleaning to keep the vehicle clean (dusting and trunk maintenance in cleanliness).
  • Thorough inspection of the car configuration and proper transfer of the car to the line manager / colleagues.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

    • Mandatory literacy and driver's license. Good knowledge of the roads of Poltava and the region.

Experience:

  • Mandatory driving experience of at least 2 years;
  • Desirable experience of working with specific vehicles (4?4, boats, motorcycles, etc.);
  • Work experience in MSF or other non-governmental organizations is desirable.

Knowledge of languages: fluency in Ukrainian.
