The manager of business development and interaction with donors will be responsible for increasing the attraction of IMC funding in Ukraine through a systematic analysis of the donor environment, active interaction with donors and the search for new financial opportunities. The position involves a deep understanding of how international donors, governments and institutional partners finance aid to Ukraine, transforming this understanding into a clear strategy for working with donors and supporting the representation team in positioning the IMC to participate in competitive tenders. This is a National Associate position based in Ukraine and works closely with senior management, technical teams and headquarters to expand and diversify IMC's donor portfolio. To successfully perform this job, the candidate must be able to perform all key functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations as necessary. 

Government donors; International financial institutions and new donors;  Private sector and other sources of financing
  • Analysis for each donor: strategic priorities of donors related to Ukraine; Funding mechanisms and requirements for recipients; Funding cycles, tools and decision-making processes
  • Identification of strategic entry points for IMC engagement with donors and recommendations for positioning according to the mandate and programmatic strengths of the organization.
  • Identification of funding opportunities and project management:

    • Systematically track and verify funding opportunities relevant to IMC work in Ukraine.
    • Maintain flow donors at the country level with clear prioritization of opportunities.
    • Timely informing relevant teams about upcoming tenders and partnership opportunities.
    • Supporting participation/opt-out decisions based on donor information and contextual analysis.

    Donor engagement and relationship management

    • Support and coordination of engagement with donors, including: preparation and organization meetings; preparation of briefings, presentations and reference materials; further actions andtracking/relationship management.
    • Facilitate meetings between IMC senior management and key donor representatives.
    • Contribute to positioning IMC as a reliable, strategic and long-term partner for Ukraine-focused assistance.

    Support development of project proposals and strategic partnerships

    • Contribute to pre-positioning and deployment planning priority opportunities.
    • Supporting the proposal development process by: providing recommendations regarding specific donors; ensuring compliance with donors' priorities; contributing to the formation of donor narratives and strategic framing.
    • Support in identifying and engaging strategic partners and consortia where appropriate.

    Systems, tools and strengthening internal capacity

    • Developing and maintaining practical tools for working with donors and tracking opportunities.
    • Contributing to strengthening internal systems, related to: information about donors; a list of offers; institutional knowledge management.
    • Support internal learning by sharing information on donor trends and funding mechanisms relevant to Ukraine.

    Reporting and coordination 

    • Prepare concise monthly updates on donor engagement activities, opportunities identified and progress made. 
    • Coordinating closely with grants, program and leadership teams to align donor work with program priorities.
    • Performing other organizational development duties as needed.

    Other

    • Any other tasks as requested by line manager or designee. 
    • Additional duties, such as temporary expansion of territorial powers, filling vacant positions for a certain period, replacing colleagues who are on sick leave/annual leave/business trip, internal duplication of positions, any specific tasks related to organizational needs.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in international relations, international development, political science, economics, or related field.
    • Master's degree preferred.
    • Minimum 3 years relevant proven experience in the field of business development, donor relations or resource mobilization in international NGOs, donor organizations or related institutions.
    • Proven understanding of the architecture of international aid and donor financing mechanisms, in particular with regard to Ukraine.
    • Experience of working with institutional donors (EU, bilateral agencies, IFIs, UN, etc.).
    • Experience of preparing project applications and interacting with donors.
    • Desirable work experience in international NGOs.
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information about donors.

    Standards of conduct

    According to this position, the individual must promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization and maintain a clear understanding of the International Medical Corps compliance standards and the ethical standards of donation. Employees are also responsible for preventing violations of our code of conduct and ethics, which may include conflicts of interest or ethics or security policies.
