It started its work in the territory of Donetsk region. Currently, SCI is expanding its activities to eight cities of Ukraine. POSITION OBJECTIVE : 

Due to the humanitarian need in Ukraine, the need for WASH is quite high, and this need is also from time to time fluctuated In many other regions where SC Ukraine works, the Western region hosted a very large number of internally displaced persons. Because of this, the need for WASH increases from time to time. According to the cluster coordination report, the demand for WASH is very significant. Therefore, filling the position of WASH Program Coordinator in the SC West office is very important.
The WASH Coordinator will typically work with another WASH Program Manager, Program Manager and all other thematic program teams and functional divisions.  The WASH Coordinator is expected to manage sector assessment, project planning, coordination and support, recruitment and procurement, usually at the regional level. In most cases, the incumbent will be expected to mentor and/or develop the potential of new employees joining the role under her/his leadership.

Primary Responsibilities: < /span>  

  • Lead technical evaluation aspects of WASH in coordination with other SC thematic areas and/or other external sector agencies, ensuring that evaluation results are documented and that all evaluations include a specific analysis of children's needs.
  • < li style="font-weight: 400">With the support of the Country WASH Sector Advisor and/or other senior program staff, develop project plans and budgets, contributing to the overall program thematic plan and master budget.
  • Development of WASH program activities, infrastructure design and hygiene promotion activities that contribute to WASH, health, nutrition or education outcomes for children.
  • Ability to finalize the BoQ and its estimated cost based on the local market.
  • Preparation and supervision of project implementation to ensure timely completion of project activities (e.g. monitoring of logical frameworks, individual performance management work plans).
  • Prepare all construction and water restoration documentation to maximum standards as per SC policy.
  • Involve and take the lead in any WASH-related planning, review performance and report.
  • Create quality and periodic project reports based on a template Compliance Donor.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to WASH Program Managers.
  • Representing the Western Office SC, participate and attend all WASH cluster meetings, joint evaluation and supervision
  • Conduct periodic field visits with WASH worker, WASH and Meal consultant to areas where projects carry out any WASH-related activities.
  • Ensure child protection is integrated into all WASH-related activities and collaborate with the Protection Coordinator children in the field office
  • Ensure the timely preparation of the WASH procurement plan and the timely dispatch of any WASH-related procurement requests in collaboration with the supply chain procurement team.

Capacity building:

  • Identify learning and training opportunities for project staff and act as a mentor and role model for less experienced staff.
  • Help coordinate and conduct any WASH training and outreach.

Representation and Advocacy and Organizational Learning:

  • Ensure coordination of Save the Children's WASH work with efforts of other agencies and government; support inter-agency coordination forums, protecting the special needs of children.
  • Actively attend coordination working groups and be prepared to convene such groups at the sub-national level.
  • Contribute to WASH communication, promotion and media work as needed and obtain approval.

General:

  • Demonstrate leadership at local level by setting a good example on Save the Children's child protection policies and practices, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures, monitoring the behavior of teams at the field level.

 To be successful, you must have:  

Required

  • Degree degree in water engineering, public health or related subject or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in an emergency response context or in fragile situations.
  • At least 4 years of previous coordinated WASH project experience in an NGO, government, private organization.< /li>
  • Experience and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability in the context of WASH
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability write clear and well-argued evaluation and project reports, as well as a high level of written and spoken English and Ukrainian
  • Commitment to the goals and principles of SCI.In particular, a good understanding of the mandate SCI and child-centredness and the ability to deliver this continues to be at the core of our support.

Preferred

  • Particular experience in designing and coordinating BHA, ECHO and other major donor projects
  • Experience or knowledge of work and life in relevant regions/contexts.
