VP of Political Innovation in Movement Labs

Ahead of 2024 Movement Labs is launching a political tactic incubator of unprecedented ambition. We’ll explore a large number of possible out of the box innovations that can be measured, analyze them for potential impact, then prioritize and run experiments to persuade, mobilize or register votes to stop Trump. We’ll invest millions of dollars in scaling the most successful experiments.We’re seeking someone to help the CEO manage that process alongside our exceptional 6-staff Research and Experiments team.You’ll take the lead on driving forward new ideas. From volunteer-driven efforts like a travel canvass with Movement Voter Project groups, or an adopt-an-unregistered voter program matching volunteers and unregistered progressives based on name or demographic. To ideas using new technologies, AI to persuade, leveraging new data sources, or unconventional methods of persuasion.You’ll scope and support vote-netting experiments conducted by our 18-staff Contest Every Race program through hundreds of county parties and potentially thousands of down-ballot candidates. You’ll collaborate with clients of our Digital Organizing Services team including some of the largest organizations in the country.And throughout, you'll collaborate with one of the most seasoned Political Experiments team in the country and benefit from their deep knowledge and proven SMS-based experiments.You’re an obsessively organized, fast-paced political operative who is ready to spend most waking hours for the next 7 months launching evidence-based programs to stop Trump. You’ve managed significant political warfare in your day, and pick up new information and synthesize it exceptionally quickly. You’re scrappy and full of hustle, but also know how to draft and manage a team with a complex project plan. You love technology or have significant tech start-up or tech-enabled marketing experience.You can take a new idea, draft a simple project plan and find an existing staff person or consultant to quickly help you launch a test on it in a week. You’re able to generate buy-in and exceptional performance from people you work with whether they are working under you or not. You are excited to be always organizing the people around you for more impact and hustle.New Experiments (80%)Work with CEO to facilitate a brainstorming, scoping, testing and launching process to incubate political experiments and oversee new political programsManage a budget for experiment incubation and collaborate to manage our overall experiments budgetQuickly hire contractors or staff, or pull in staff from across the existing Movement Labs team to scope and test experimentsWork with VP of Research to prioritize, categorize and register new experiments with research methodologyManage staff and work across the Movement Labs octopus to ensure scaled launches are successfulGeneral Leadership (20%)Act as a problem-solver to the CEO and VP teamCollaborate on team-wide & leadership meeting and strategic planningRequirementsMultiple cycles of innovative political campaign leadership including responsibility for tactical choicesExceptionally high energy, fast-pace and experience launching new projects Ability to quickly scope big ideas into testable hypothesesExperience managing managers & consultants in a high-performance environmentExceptionally strong logical, quantitative and analytical skillsPreferredKnowledge of randomized control trials and experimental methodologySignificant creativity within marketing, campaigning, scaled organizing or other vote-netting activitiesA network of highly creative and ambitious political practitionersAn absolute unflappability in the face of chaosExperience driving forward execution on over 20 projects at onceAbility to scope and launch new initiatives from idea to execution within 72 hoursExperience showing discernment regarding delegation, including when external consultants are necessaryExperience designing and launching a significant number of vote-netting randomized control trialsBenefitsAnnual salary of $150,000 - 180,000 (this is the top of Movement Labs' salary range).
