Systems Engineer in Smart Net

As a Systems Engineer you will be responsible for supporting, monitoring and implementing hardware, software and specific solutions and applications running Red Hat Linux, Windows Server, Ubuntu Server. This position provides leadership for our world class 24x7x365 production support, spanning all aspects of hybrid environments. This individual must be comfortable in a team environment, be willing to manage multiple tasks and be a self-starter with the ability to complete tasks autonomously.Job Duties:Responds tocustomer service requests and provides production support coverageSupports, and improves production, development, test andDR environments onsupported Data Center platforms. Develops tools and scripts toassist with routine maintenance tasks (bash, Perl, and Python, PowerShell, etc.).Assists development teams with major Linux based application installs, upgrades and patchingCreates, maintains, and updates platform documentation and standard operating proceduresBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from four-year college oruniversity, preferably inatechnical disciplineMinimum one (1) year ofsystems administration and troubleshooting experience with Linux orUnix, including hands-onIT infrastructure operationsTechnical knowledge and understanding of current industry hardware, protocols, and standards (e.g., IP, TCP, UDP, NTP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSH, Syslog, etc.)Orequivalent combination ofeducation and experiencePreferred Requirements:Creating event traps, alerts and logging capabilities using any scripting languageAbility toidentify, isolate, and resolve production and non-production system issues, handle service requests and follow support processes utilizing application troubleshooting skills and abilities toresolve complex problemsExperience inLinux systems lifecycle operationsResponsibility, accountability and credibility inall work and research assignments and demonstrating the ability tobehighly self-motivated and self-directedWritten and oral communication skills with the ability todescribe indetails the steps and approach taken tocomplete your tasks, ability todeal with stressors resulting from project deadlines and multi-tasked environmentExperience working with and configuring automation tools such as Jenkins or Ansible is a plus
