GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
Community Awareness and Engagement Specialist is responsible for implementing initiatives at the level communities aimed at preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and responding to it in the Ukrainian context.
The position involves the development and implementation of informational and educational activities, promotion of positive behavioral changes and the involvement of various community groups in the prevention and response to GBV.
The specialist works in close cooperation with women and girls, authorities, community leaders and service providers to create a safe, supportive and informed environment, and also coordinates information campaigns.
KEY DUTIES1. Planning and coordination of GBV prevention activities
- Develop and coordinate GBV prevention plans at the community level in cooperation with the WPE team.
- Ensure targeting of activities to the needs of women and girls through regular consultations and participatory approaches.
- Integrate the results of community needs assessments into preventive strategies.
2. HSE risk assessment and security audits
- Conduct security audits and HSE risk assessments in target communities.
- Conduct regular participatory assessments to identify risks, service gaps and protection needs.
- Ensure the safe and inclusive involvement of women and girls in the development and implementation of activities.
3. Information campaigns and information dissemination
- Plan and implement awareness campaigns (eg 16 days against violence, International Women's Day).
- Provide culturally sensitive and inclusive messages adapted to the community context.
- Collaborate with communications and advocacy teams to strengthen prevention messages.
4. Psychosocial support activities (PSS)
- Organize and coordinate structured group psychosocial support activities for women and girls in safe spaces.
- Ensure that the sessions are conducted in accordance with the approved methodologies and principles of work with the GZN.
- Support the creation of an inclusive, non-discriminatory environment for emotional support and recovery.
5. Coordination and Representation
- Build effective collaboration with authorities, community leaders and partners for a coordinated response.
- Represent the WPE program at coordination meetings and public platforms.
- Ensure that the voice of women and girls is taken into account in coordination processes.
6. Reporting
- Track the implementation and impact of activities using MEAL tools.
- Ensure accurate documentation of activities, participant feedback and lessons learned.
- Prepare input to donor and internal reports.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSEducation
- Master's degree or higher in the field social work, psychology, sociology, pedagogy or related humanities.
Experience
- Proven experience working in the field of protection, especially with women and girls or in HSR programs.
- Experience working with field teams and implementing community engagement approaches.
- Understanding the principles of working with HSR and a victim-centered approach.
- Experience conducting security audits and participatory assessments.
KoBoToolbox, CommCare or similar platforms.
