"BF "Right to Defense" (hereinafter - the Foundation) is a charitable organization that focuses its activities on providing assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs), survivors of war, refugees and stateless persons. The Foundation is an executive partner of the UNHCR and monitors the situation of protection of the rights of IDPs, providing legal assistance and strengthening the humanitarian response in 22 regions of Ukraine, and also promotes changes in the national legal framework, bringing it into line with international standards in the field of human rights. 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project "PATH: Protection, Assistance, Togetherness and Hope", aimed at comprehensive and multisectoral assistance for people with disabilities, the elderly, women, the most vulnerable girls and boys and their guardians, many of whom face isolation and barriers to access to humanitarian services. Project geography: Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia, and Donetsk regions. We provide support to internally displaced persons (in particular, those living in temporary residences), vulnerable categories of the local population, as well as local civil society organizations. Aid is provided with the support of the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (UHF).

Duties and tasks

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Monitoring Specialist, and the overall direction of the Protection Monitoring Program Coordinator, the employee must:

  • According to the approved plan, make trips to the communities in order to fulfill the tasks provided by the project;

  • Establish and maintain relations with representatives of local self-government bodies, state institutions, social institutions, educational institutions, emergency services, etc.;

  • Taxto maintain and maintain relations with initiative groups existing in communities and to promote the creation of new initiative groups or public associations; initiative groups;

  • Monitor existing services in communities, including and social, active local and regional programs and beneficiaries' access to decision-making;

    Identify the needs of the beneficiaries and participate in the response to such needs;

  • Identify existing gaps in the field of protection in communities; develop an action plan to overcome such gaps; determine priority needs of beneficiaries;

    Contribute to the creation of coordination and advisory bodies; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Organize and conduct focus group surveys;

  • To complete training offered by the Foundation in a timely manner.

Professional requirements

  • higher education (preferably: sociology, law, journalism);

  • excellent communication skills, readiness for daily communication with people (representatives of government institutions, IDPs and the affected population);

  • cultural sensitivity and diplomacy;

  • experience working with local government and public associations;

  • knowledge of facilitation techniques will be an advantage; 

  • understanding local advocacy as a process;

  • knowledge of tools of democracy\participation;

  • preferred knowledge of human rights;

  • readiness for significant work in the "fields" (outside the office);

  • readiness for a large number of trips and more than normal working hours;

  • ability to collect and analyze information in accordance with project goals and objectives;

  • skills to prepare reports (analytical, on a separate incident);

  • understanding humanitarian principles;

  • knowledge and skills regarding signs of violence, trauma, exploitation will be an advantage;

  • self-motivation;

  • flexibility;

  • ability to work in a team;

  • obey the Code of Conduct and Foundation Policies;

  • own car will be an advantage.
