BF "Right to Defense" (hereinafter - the Fund) is a recognized leader of the human rights movement in Ukraine. The Foundation has strong positions in the field of protection of the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees and stateless persons. Since the beginning of the war in Eastern Ukraine, the Foundation has been monitoring the situation of protection of the rights of IDPs, providing legal and psychosocial assistance and strengthening the humanitarian response in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Today the Fund works in almost all regional centers and communities within the respective regions. The Fund is an executive partner of the UNHCR and implements programs for the provision of direct legal assistance throughout Ukraine, promotes changes in the national legal framework, bringing it into line with international standards in the field of human rights.

We provide support to internally displaced persons (in particular, those living in temporary accommodation), vulnerable categories of the local population, as well as local civil society organizations. Assistance is provided with the support of the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (HFU/UHF).

Responsibilities and tasks

Under the direct supervision of a senior protection monitoring specialist, and general management coordinator of the Protection Monitoring Program, the employee must:

  • According to the approved plan, carry out visits to communities in order to fulfill the tasks provided for by the project;

  • Establish and maintain relations with local government institutions, educational institutions, etc.;

  • font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Debug and supportmaintain relations with initiative groups existing in communities and promote the creation of new initiative groups or public associations;

  • Provide non-legal consultations to local government representatives and initiative groups;

  • Monitor existing services in communities, including and social, active local and regional programs and beneficiaries' access to decision-making; 

  • style="font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none">Identify the needs of beneficiaries in communities and participate in the creation of a mechanism for responding to such needs;

  • Identify existing gaps in sphere of protection in communities; develop an action plan to overcome such gaps; determine priority needs of beneficiaries;

Professional requirements

  • higher education (preferably: sociology, law, journalism);

  • excellent communication skills, readiness for daily communication with people (representatives of government institutions, IDPs and the affected population);
