GENERAL INFORMATION

BF "Right to Defense" (hereinafter - the Fund) is a sector leader in the protection of people affected by war, veterans, refugees and stateless persons. We seek recovery and integration for those we help. Our team protects people's rights and influences laws and decisions in Ukraine and the world to become fairer. We are actively developing a network of partners for localized support of those who need it. The fund is 13 years old. Today, the team of BF "Right to Defense" has about 1,200 specialists. Geography: 22 regions of Ukraine, as well as a representative office in Poland. More than 3,300,000 people have received aid since the start of the full-scale invasion. Our work was recognized at the national level: in 2024, the Foundation won first place in the "Charity Ukraine" competition in the "All-Ukrainian Charity" category, entered the top 10 of the Forbes Ukraine "50 Best Charitable Organizations" rating, and took 9th place in the rating of integrity of charitable foundations of Ukraine.

high-risk zone, the "Right to Defense" Charitable Foundation creates crisis response groups that will carry out their activities within the framework of individual projects in high-risk locations located at a distance of 0 to 40 km. from the front line or border. In some cases, it is possible to travel to the zone of the highest risk, which is from 0 to 15 km. in which there is indiscriminate shelling from artillery, which has an additional risk to the life and health of the Foundation team.

Before starting work or in the process of employment, all persons who are part of the team or provide services to the Foundation, who may be involved in trips to high-risk areas, will undergo comprehensive training, aimed at preparing for work in potentially dangerous conditions (conflict zones or other regions with an increased level of risk). The program will include basic first aid skills, mine risk orientation, mine action, evacuation and field risk management. The Fund uses all available technical means and training to reduce risks of a physical nature. Namely: issues PPE, tactical first-aid kits and other equipment.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Project "Complex Services" protecting war-affected civilians and improving resilience skills of first responders" aims to protect and support the rights of internally displaced persons, war-affected populations, stateless persons, as well as veterans and their families at the national, local and individual levels. In 2026, the Fund will monitor the protection of the rights of IDPs as part of the projectand will provide free legal assistance to internally displaced persons, stateless persons, veterans and their families in the regions of Ukraine.

The geography of activity includes the Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Odesa, Poltava and Kirovohrad regions. The territory of implementation may change depending on the security situation and the needs of the project.

The project is looking for a Specialist (position) insecurity monitoring and of supporting veterans in high-risk communities in Chernihiv (Chernihiv region).

Duties and tasks

Under the direct supervision of the regional protection coordinator, and the overall supervision of the protection coordinator and the regional team leader, the employee must:

  • Regular visits to the communities for direct interaction with residents and authorities;
  • Monitoring the services available in the communities and assessing the real access of veterans to the adoption solutions;
  • Organization of focus groups and surveys according to the project methodology to identify systemic gaps in protection;
  • Providing non-legal advice to veterans and their families regarding access to benefits, services and opportunities;
  • Provision of methodological assistance to representatives of local self-government bodies (LGUs) and initiative groups;
  • Timely identification of needs and narrow referral to narrow professions specialists;
  • Establishing stable relations with the departments of social protection, health care, TsNAPs, education and emergency services;
  • Timely and high-quality entry of data about the services rendered into internal digital accounting systems;
  • Adhering to the Code of Conduct and Foundation Policies.

Professional requirements

  • higher education (preferred: sociology, law, journalism);
  • preferred knowledge of human rights;
  • willingness to work significantly in the "fields" (outside the office);
  • willingness to travel extensively and beyond normal working hours;
  • knowledge and understanding of the legislation on veterans' rights
  • ability to collect information in accordance with the goals and objectives of the project;
  • skills to prepare reports (analytical, regarding a separate incident);
  • understanding of humanitarian principles;
  • excellent communication skills, readiness for daily communicationwith people;
  • preference is given to IDPs who lost their jobs due to displacement;
  • self-motivation;
  • flexibility.

Living in the specified location and awareness of the local situation will be significant advantages.
