Job Description:
Working under the overall direction of the Senior Health Officer, the Health Assistant is responsible for performing administrative and technical duties to ensure the effective delivery of FHI 360's health activities. The Health Assistant provides technical and operational support to Health Volunteers (HP Volunteers) in mobile clinics, during distribution of medical kits, training of health workers and transfer of medical supplies and equipment to health facilities.   

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the medical professional to effectively and efficiently achieve the goals and objectives of the program.  This includes ongoing field assistance for mobile units and health volunteers, facility support, training support and regular updates on the stockpile of medical equipment and materials used by the project.  
  • Participates in the processing, maintenance and visualization of health data. 
  • Preparation of reports on field activities.  
  • Coordinating support requests, scheduling meetings, and helping to organize internal and external meetings.  
  • Maintaining updated electronic and paper files related to health care activities.  
  • Conducting preparatory work for new activities, gathering information and researching the context at the request of a senior medical officer.  
  • Ensure communication between the health department and other departments, including logistics, finance, monitoring and evaluation departments.  
  • In coordination with the Senior Health Officer, facilitate the administrative processes required for the donation of drugs/materials to health facilities and hygiene kits to community centers.  
  • Support the medical component of the multisectoral needs assessment process. Assist in the development of outreach materials (IOC) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for health care events.   
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the manager.  

Applied Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of technical standards and best practices in the field of providing medical services in humanitarian settings.

  • Ability to support the execution of parallel tasks and implementation of activities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, adherence to professional ethical principles, openness, flexibility in solving problems and the ability to adapt to of changes.

  • Knowledge of the crisis situation in Ukraine.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with many tasks at the same time. Teamwork, attention to detail, willingness to learn and willingness to work in challenging environments.

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Problem Solving & Impact:

  • Applies judgment within broadly defined practices and policies to select methods and techniques to achieve results.

  • Quickly identifies errors and collaborates with relevant personnel to ensure minimal disruption or cost of remediation.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Interacts regularly with staff at various levels.

  • Works closely with program staff, technical specialists, MEAL, logistics and service security.

Education:

  • University degree in nursing, pharmacology, public health, computer science or statistics, or medical degree.

  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in the implementation or support of programs in the field of health or MHPSS.

  • Prior experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or UN agency.

  • Prior experience in the field of health care, defense, humanitarian or development is an advantage.

  • Fluent command of Ukrainian and confident knowledge of English (oral and in writing).

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Typical office environment.

  • Ability to work for long periods of time at a computer and perform repetitive work on a keyboard.

  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to lift 5 to 50 pounds (? 2-23 kg).

  • Ability to travel to remote field locations where basic facilities may be lacking.

Technology to be Used:

  • Computer, Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email), office phone, cell phone, printer/copier device.

  • Practical knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate will be an advantage.

Job Summary:

Working under the overall supervision of the Senior Health Officer, the Health Associate is responsible for performing administrative and technical duties to support the effective implementation of FHI 360's health activities. The Health Associate provides technical and operational support to health promotion volunteers (HP volunteers) at the mobile clinic site, distributions of health kits, trainings of health workers, and donations of medical supplies and equipment to health facilities.   

Accountabilities:

  • Works closely with the Health Officer to achieve program objectives and targets effectively and efficiently.  This includes continuous field-based assistance for mobile units and community health volunteers, supported facilities, support for trainings, and providing regular updates on the inventory of medical equipment and supplies used by the project.  

  • Contribute to the health data processing, maintenance, and visualization. 

  • Prepare reports on field activities.  

  • Coordinate requests for support, schedule appointments, and assist in organizing internal and external meetings.  

  • Maintain updated electronic and hard copy files related to health activities.  

  • Conduct preparatory work for new activities, information gathering, and background research, as requested by the Senior Health Officer.  

  • Liaise between health and other departments including Logistics, Finance, and Monitoring and  Evaluation.  

  • In coordination with the Senior Health Officer, facilitate the administrative processes required for donation of medicines/supplies to health facilities and hygiene kits to collective centers.  

  • Support the health component of the multi-sectoral needs assessment process.  

  • Assist in the development of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for health activities.   

  • Any other duty assigned by supervisor

  • Ability to support concurrent tasks and implementation of activities
