GENERAL INFORMATION

BF "Right to Defense" (hereinafter - the Fund) is a sector leader in the protection of people who have suffered from war, veterans, refugees and stateless persons. We seek recovery and integration for those we help. Our team protects people's rights and influences laws and decisions in Ukraine and the world to become fairer. We are actively developing a network of partners for localized support of those who need it. The fund is 13 years old. Today, the team of BF "Right to Defense" has about 1,200 specialists. Geography: 22 regions of Ukraine, as well as a representative office in Poland. More than 3,300,000 people have received aid since the start of the full-scale invasion. Our work was recognized at the national level: in 2024, the Foundation won first place in the "Charity Ukraine" competition in the "All-Ukrainian charity" category, entered the top 10 of the Forbes Ukraine rating of "50 best charitable organizations" and took 9th place in the rating of the integrity of charitable foundations of Ukraine.

Project "Supported by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS)"is looking for a Social Issues Specialist to work with the victims of civil war in the city of Sumy (Sumy Oblast).

As part of the project, where there is the greatest need for help to ensure quick access to vital services for people who have suffered from the war and are unable to get to the relief centers on their own, they will provide information on social issues, help with filing documents and solving social issues. The specialist/position will provide a case management service: assessment of the person's needs, development of an individual plan of assistance and coordination in receiving social support from various services and ensuring a holistic approach to protection issues.

Duties and tasks

Under the direct supervision of the regional protection coordinator, and the general supervision of the protection coordinator and the regional team leader, employee should:

  • Identify individuals and families in need of social support, including as a result of gender-based violence;
  • Provide social assistance to victims: social services of counseling, information, physical support, representation of interests in accordance with needs, as well as case management;
  • Assist identified victims/beneficiaries in obtaining additional services (medical, social, psychological, legal, provision of temporary shelter, etc.), in particular through referral, if necessary, to relevant general or specialized support services for victims and/or other subjects;
  • Maintain contact with local authorities and their institutions, as well as other humanitarian organizations;
  • Fill out reporting documentation in a timely manner in accordance with the requirements of the fund;
  • Reporting in the internal database of the Foundation;
  • Preference is given to candidates who have their own car;
  • Understanding and compliance with the Code of Conduct and other policies of the Foundation.

Professional requirements

  • Higher education in the field of social, legal, psychological or humanitarian sciences;
  • Understanding current legislation and methods of providing social services will be an advantage;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with different categories of the population;
  • Experience working with internally displaced persons will be an advantage;
  • Experience working with victims of gender-based violence will be an advantage;
  • Experience working with violence prevention will be an advantage;
  • Knowledge of the principles of confidentiality and work with personal data;
  • Understanding of humanitarian principles and gender approach;
  • Attention to details, ability to work in difficult conditions;
  • Strong communication skills, autonomy in work, proactivity and flexibility.
