Job Description< /strong>

The Mental Health Case Management Specialist provides comprehensive support and coordinates care for individuals (and their families) experiencing mental health issues in their daily lives by assessing client needs , developing, implementing and monitoring treatment plans and facilitating access to various services. A mental health case management professional mediates between clients, families, and service providers, advocating for clients' needs and rights while working toward their goals of recovery and independence. A mental health case management professional considers the lifestyle and culture of clients when providing culturally sensitive care services. A mental health case manager is open to learning about a person's experience and belief system, open to learning about a person's life cycle through experience rather than assumptions.

In order to successfully perform this job, a person must be able to perform each important function and be able to adapt. 

Minimum requirements: 

- Higher humanitarian education (psychology, social work, philosophy, sociology or pedagogy (Bachelor's) or any equivalent).

- Minimum 1-2 years in the field of social/cultural or educational work. Previous work experience in a humanitarian organization is an advantage.

- Fluency in Ukrainian, Russian is an advantage.

- Adheres to ethical considerations and principles of working with vulnerable population groups.

- Previous experience in programs and activities in mental health care and psychosocial support is an advantage.

- Living in the city of Kharkiv or its surroundings .

- Ability to work in emergency situations.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mapping services, redirection, and repair of network contacts:

  • Carry out mapping of services in the area of ​​activity, identify coordinators, establish cooperation to ensure effective redirection (from MMK to other institutions and from other institutions to the MMK Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) team in collaboration with the Mental Health Case Management (MHCM) team and document this in the Referral Matrix. Update the Referral Matrix monthly.
  • Actively participate in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) meetings and coordination activities within the area of ​​activity to keep abreast of available services/initiatives and emerging issues and to ensure effective referral and coordination assistance.

Informative and educational work, raising awareness and conducting educational trainings:

  • Conducting meetings on information and educational work and activities in collaboration with the Mental Health Case Management (MHCM) team in order to promote, familiarize and provide information about the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services provided by the MHCM, including the Management Mental Health Affairs (MHCM) available in the area of ​​operation, individuals, community groups and centers, local partners, other agencies, local health services, educational institutions, etc.
  • Conducting needs assessment in community groups and centres, local partners, other agencies, local health services and educational institutions (as requested by the Head of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and providing recommendations for potential Mental Health and Psychosocial Support activities Support (MHPSS), trainings, group sessions on psychological support, implementation of alternative research tasks (ARA), psychoeducation in agreement with the Mental Health Case Management (MHCM) team.
  • Conducting educational trainings on issues of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), as needed and at the request of the head of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).
  • Preparation and conduct of psychoeducational classes for clients, their families, schools , etc. in collaboration with the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) team, using relevant IEC guidelines, tools and materials approved by the International Medical Corps Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Manager.

Other duties:

- Preparation, participation and documentation of technicalnight meetings, supervision sessions and MHPS case conferences, as well as participation in them.

- Report directly to the MHPS manager.

- Work closely with PZPSP teams to achieve program goals and indicators.

- Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed herein are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily exhaustive.

- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. The candidate must maintain a high level of flexibility in terms of accepting additional responsibilities, work to established deadlines, after hours and weekends as necessary, and guarantee confidentiality. 

Standards of conduct

According to this position, the individual must promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization and maintain a clear understanding of International Medical Corps compliance standards and ethical donation standards. Employees are also responsible for preventing violations of our code of conduct and ethics, which may include conflicts of interest or ethics or security policies. If this is a supervisory position, should set an example of ethical behavior through own behavior and supervision of the work of others; ensure that those who report to you have sufficient knowledge and resources to comply with the standards set out in the code of conduct and ethics; monitor compliance of subordinate employees; ensure compliance with the International Medical Corps code of conduct and ethics and policies, including safety policies and protection against humiliation, bullying and sexual harassment in the workplace, consistently and fairly; support employees who raise such issues or concerns in good faith.
