Job Overview
The WGSS Facilitation and Administration Specialist plays a critical role in the effective delivery of inclusive, victim services through Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS). WGSS are central to WPE programs and serve as a safe, accessible and women-led environment where participants can access psychosocial support, build networks of solidarity, participate in leadership activities and receive vital information.
This position combines the facilitation of structured psychosocial support (PSS) and gender-based violence prevention, implementation of standardized IRC curricula (eg Girl Shine, Women Rise), administrative and logistical coordination, community engagement and support for advocacy initiatives. The specialist ensures that all WGSS activities comply with humanitarian principles, respond to the needs of women and girls and contribute to their protection, rehabilitation and empowerment.
Main Responsibilities
Program planning and facilitation
- ? Design, plan and implement psychosocial support and empowerment group sessions using standardized and contextualized IRC curricula (e.g. Girl Shine, Women Rise, GBV Prevention Toolkit).
- ? Adapt content to meet the diverse needs of women and girls at risk of gender-based violence, including displaced persons, victims and persons with disabilities.
- ? Ensure that all activities contribute to the development of leadership, resilience and meaningful participation of women and girls.
- ? Integrate digital tools (eg messaging apps, KoBoToolbox, Google Workspace) to improve outreach, feedback and coordination.
- Regularly update WGSS action plans in collaboration with WPE team and field protection staff.
Gendered prevention conditioned violence and community involvement
- ? Conduct information sessions on gender-based violence prevention, stigma reduction, safety planning, women's rights and accessible services.
- ? Organize community campaigns (eg 16 days of activism) in collaboration with local women's groups and IRC advocacy teams.
- ? Distribute information and education materials (IEMs) in accessible formats.
- Involve WGSS participants and community stakeholders to identify priority topics and preferred communication channels.
Psychosocial support and safe environment
- ? Provide supportive listening and basic emotional support according to the principles of psychological first aid (PFA).
- ? Identify participants requiring case management or specialized services and provide safe and confidential referrals in coordination with WPE staff.
- Maintain a welcoming, safe, inclusive and confidential environment in accordance with WGSS standards.
Administrative and Operational support
- ? Keep accurate records of attendance, session results, and member feedback using IRC tools and templates.
- ? Manage inventory, supply requests, and procurement needs for WGSS materials in coordination with Supply Chain and WPE personnel.
- Respond to WGSS-related inquiries and ensure seamless communication with other IRC departments.
Coordinating, networking and partnership
- ? Liaise with local women's groups, community leaders and national non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to support referrals, co-facilitate activities and improve service integration.
- ? Participate in field coordination meetings and support joint planning with community-based structures.
- Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of robust referral pathways, including regular updatesservice maps and partner contact lists.
Monitoring, reporting and training
- ? Facilitate the collection of quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring adherence to ethical monitoring practices.
- ? Document lessons learned, participant feedback, and success stories to inform program improvements and donor reporting.
- Participate in regular reflection and learning sessions with the WPE team.
Leadership and Capacity Building
- ? Encourage and facilitate inclusion of leadership development opportunities for adolescent girls and adult women.
- ? Actively contribute to the ongoing professional development of WPE colleagues by sharing facilitation practices and tools.
- Apply victim-centred, human rights-based and feminist facilitation approaches to all WGSS activities.
Key Workers relationship
- ? Reports to: WPE Senior Case Management and Community Protection Officer
- Works closely with: WPE Community Engagement Officer, WPE Social Workers, MEAL, Supply Chain, Local Women-Led Groups and NGO Partners
Requirements for job
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, education, sociology, gender studies, or other related humanities or social field.
Experience:
- ? A minimum of 2 years of experience implementing protection programs, especially with women and girls or victims of gender-based violence.
- ? Demonstrated experience in conducting group classes (for example, PSS, prevention of acute respiratory infections, life skills).
- ? Previous experience working with national NGOs and/or community groups preferred.
- ? Familiarity with the IRC WPE/WGSS standards and guidelines on gender-based violence is strongly recommended.
- Prior participation in professional training on facilitating SSP, PPD, prevention of GBV or community protection is strongly recommended.
Skills and competencies:
- ? Strong facilitation, interpersonal and communication skills.
- ? Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds with empathy, dignity and impartiality.
- ? Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and digital tools for humanitarian programming; Familiarity with KoBoToolbox or CommCare is an advantage.
- ? Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and responsibility in documentation and coordination.
- Fluency in Ukrainian is a must; Knowledge of English is preferred.
