DRB has existed in Ukraine since 2014. At the moment, more than 700 employees work in the DRB in total on the territory of Ukraine. In 2024, the DRB will continue to significantly expand to implement emergency response in the social and legal protection, livelihoods, housing reconstruction and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining) sectors, providing direct support to responsible individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and as well as their partners. DRB will continue to develop long-term solutions, adapting them to the changing situation.

DRB is currently looking for a highly qualified Assistance Coordination Specialist victims of mines and explosive objects,who will join our team in Kyiv /strong>. It is expected that you will travel to the DRB offices, for example, to Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, etc.

General objectives of the position:

You will be responsible for supporting the organization of meetings of the RGDP and round tables on the coordination of assistance to victims. You will also participate in the development of SOPs and other relevant (informational and educational) materials, conducting assessments, research and advocacy, as well as information campaigns to raise awareness. Your duties will include the provision of targeted individual assistance (i.e. monetary grants) to victims of VNP/VNI if there are requests for support from the regional teams of the DRB.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Support of the Working Group on Assistance to Victims of VNP/VNI (RGDP)

  • Support the organization of meetings of the RGDP, coordination round tables on issues of assistance to victims and other public events dedicated to the rights and needs of victims of VNP/VNIand people with disabilities.
  • To promote further work based on the results of discussions at meetings of the RGDP and other events. 
  • Help in the development of methodological recommendations, evaluations, advocacy messages and other products based on the results of the work of the WGDP and round tables and meetings.
  • Ensure interaction between members and partners of the WGDP in order to strengthen cooperation, exchange experience, knowledge and best practices, which will contribute to a coordinated and comprehensive response in the field of assistance to victims in Ukraine.
  • Research, analysis and advocacy

    • Contribute to the development of assessments and research, for example, on the needs, as well as the stigmatization of victims of VNP/HIV and people with disabilities in Ukraine.
    • Based on the results of the needs assessment, research and consultations with stakeholders, the RGDP will support A leading specialist in aid to victims of GNP/university in cooperation with the media to develop and withlack of advocacy media campaigns. 
    • Support the development of advocacy messages and initiatives in consultation with the DRC Advocacy Coordinator and the DRC Legal Aid Team.
    • Ensure that the results of assessments and analyzes that highlight the key needs of victims of VNP/HEIs and gaps in the corresponding response in Ukraine were used in advocacy activities and external partner engagement activities.
    • Assist in tracking (mapping) connections with government institutions and civil society stakeholders involved to the field of support for victims of EOD/IED, with the aim of developing and strengthening referral pathways and procedures for cases requiring specialized and other support services.

    Support for victims of explosive devices, strengthening capacity and other

    • If requested for support from regional teams, provide targeted individual assistance (i.e. conditional cash grants) to direct and indirect victims of GNP-related accidents /HEIs, contributing to the improvement of their socio-economic situation.
    • Contribute to the development and adaptation of the necessary tools, forms, technical manuals and SOPs for the DRC's aid-related activities, and support the Lead Aid Specialist victims in developing capacity building materials for DRC staff and partners.
    • Maintain collaboration with other sectors to ensure integration, synergy and identify opportunities for collaboration/better coordination between teams.
    • Maintain communication liaise with DRC support services departments, initiate procurements and ensure their implementation.
    • Performance of other relevant tasks as requested and in agreement with the Manager of the Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding Program and the Lead Specialist for Assistance to Victims of GNP/VNI.

    About you:

    To be successful in this position, we expect you to have at least 2 years of work experience in the field of helping victims of GNP/VZ, inclusion of people with disabilities, social work, case - management, consulting or related humanitarian sector. font-weight: 400">In addition, we also expect the following:

    • Higher education in social work, inclusion, psychology, (special) education or a similar professional qualification is mandatory.
    • Technical knowledge of mine action assistance practices and inclusion.
    • Knowledge of International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and National Mine Action Standards is an advantage.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with vulnerable individuals, employees and stakeholders of various profiles.
    • Strong research and analytical skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills, ability to prioritize work and cope with demultiple responsibilities.
    • Strong sense of personal integrity and understanding of privacy and ethics.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows.
    • Professional command of the English language is mandatory.
