Terre des hommes (Tdh) is a leading Swiss organization for helping children. Since 1960, Tdh has been helping to build a better future for children and young people, especially those most at risk, by offering innovative and sustainable solutions. ROLE DESCRIPTION

Communication Specialist and visualization of projects plays an important role in shaping the image of Tdh in the country and helps in managing the overall communication activities at all levels, ensuring the consistency of communication between projects and alignment with the regional and global communication strategy of Tdh. The Project Communication and Visualization Specialist develops and publishes materials in support of Tdh's local and global goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the development and implementation communication strategies and policies, ensuring coordination and harmonization of communication policies between the Mission, Multinational Delegation, Regional Office and Headquarters.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development and production of publications, newsletters, etc.;
  • Manage and regularly updatecreate websites and social media accounts;
  • Develop, proofread, edit publications and translate newsletters, research, reports, etc.; 
  • Target local audiences, for example by reposting content on social networks / sharing press releases and web content, as appropriate;
  • Coordinating communication activities and activities related to with projects and partners;
  • Make field trips (as needed) to connect with target groups and prepare case studies, press releases, etc.;
  • Coordinates the production of digital assets (photo , video, etc.), visual materials and other project needs;
  • Writing and publishing press releases at the local level to highlight the impact of the projects;
  • Lead the distribution of communication materials to relevant stakeholders (internal and external);
  • Contribute to the establishment of positive relations with (potential) donors; participates in donor visits to demonstrate project results upon request;
  • Contribute to the presentation of best practices and lessons learned;
  • Ensure prompt notification of media opportunities and reputational risks;

  • Coaches and empowers project teams and partner organizations on editorial and visual recommendations;
  • Develop relationships with key local media to position Tdh as the go-to organization for children in the country;

  • Ensure compliance with regulations, administrative and logistical procedures in the mission, donor and government requirements.
  • Any other related tasks that may be required or assigned by the manager to support Tdh's communication activities in Ukraine.

Requirements:

Education / Qualification:

  • Higher education in journalism, communications, marketing or a related discipline.

Work experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of previous work experience in the field of communications or PR in an NGO or other similar organizations;
  • Proven experience in managing content production;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing social media channels;
  • Advanced graphic design skills including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premier or similar, Canva and others, social media video production/editing/subtitling;
  • Knowledge of Drupal, HTML a strong advantage;
  • Experience in coordinating multimedia production (photo, video, digital media);
  • Experience in writing and editing communication texts in English and Ukrainian;
  • Ability to produce creative solutions and work under tight deadlines;
  • Good understanding of the media and communication environment of the country;
  • High organization, scrupulous attention to details, practical and proactive attitude;
  • Excellent skills interpersonal communication with a high degree of integrity and professionalism;

Language knowledge:Fluency in Ukrainian and English (written and spoken).

Communication Officer

ROLE DESCRIPTION 

The Communication Officer plays and important role in developing Terre des hommes’ profile in the country and supports in managing the overall communication activities on all the levels, ensuring consistency of communication across the projects and alignment with Tdh’s regional and global communication strategy. The Communication Officer develops and publishes material in support of Tdh’s local and global objectives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to the development and implements the communication strategies and policies ensuring the coordination and harmonization of communication policies between the delegation, Multi-Country Delegation, Regional Office, and HQ;
  • Coordinates and oversees the development and production of publications, newsletters etc.

  • Develops, proofreads, edits and translates publications, newsletters, researches, reports etc; 
  • Targets local audiences by, for example, re/posting social media content / sharing press releases and web content as appropriate;
  • Coordinates communication activities and events around the projects and partners;
  • Undertakes field visits (upon need) to liaise with target groups and to produce case studies, press releases, human stories, publications etc,
  • Writes and publishes press releases locally to highlight impact of projects;
  • Coordinates production of digital resources (photos, videos, etc.), visibility materials and other needs for the projects;
  • Leads the dissemination of communication materials to relevant stakeholders (internally and externally);
  • Fosters positive relations with (potential) donors; participates in donors’ visits to showcase project results once requested;
  • Contributes to the presentation of best practices and lessons learned;
  • Provides rapid alerts in case of media opportunities and reputational risk;
  • Coaches and empowers project teams and partner organizations regarding editorial and visual guidelines;
  • Develops relationships with key local media in order to position Tdh as the go-to child relief agency in the country;
  • Ensures compliance with the regulations, administrative and logistics procedures at the delegation, donors and governmental requirements;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor to support communication activities of Tdh in Ukraine.

YOUR PROFILE

Education / Qualifications

  • University degree higher education in the field of Journalism, Communication, Marketing or related discipline.

Experience:       

  • A minimum of 5 years of previous experience in communication or PR, ideally in NGO but not necessarily.
  • Good technical affinity for media contexts including knowledge of a wide range of social media, multimedia, web & digital tools.
  • Outstanding news writing, editing & event planning skills.
  • Good understanding of the country media & communications environment.
  • Highly organised, with scrupulous attention to detail.
  • Hands-on, proactive attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high degree of integrity andprofessionalism.
  • Collaborative working style: good team player but with demonstrated ability to work independently;
  • Proven experience managing content production.
  • Demonstrated experience of managing social media channels;

Languages: Fluency in Ukrainian and English (written and oral).

IT know-how: Experience in using such computer software as Microsoft Office, knowledge of database package MS Excel
