What the Software Engineer Will Do
You will develop one of their existing products as part of a highly skilled and mission-driven team. The team is committed to maintaining a high-quality bar, evolving the system while keeping it simple and focusing on maximizing the impact on the end product.
The Software Engineer will work closely with the Tech Lead and other engineers to define the appropriate technical approach, success metrics, and delivery timelines. They will contribute to the product roadmap and help the team and Product Manager make informed decisions to break down complex tech deliverables into simple and understandable user stories.
Quality is key. The Software Engineer will ensure all product components are built to an appropriate level of quality for the stage (alpha/beta/production), deliver products using the appropriate level of testing and monitoring, fail fast, and learn and iterate frequently. They will champion continuous improvement and always aim to improve the product the team owns, measuring impact with the appropriate tech, product, or delivery metrics.
In This Role, the Software Engineer Will
The technology stack is entirely cloud native and includes AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Kafka, Node.js, and TypeScript.
What We Are Looking For
Our client believes a good engineer can pick up any new technology in a reasonable amount of time and provides training and help during onboarding to become fully proficient with their stack. They expect candidates to deeply understand the full-stack software development life cycle, DevOps methodologies, testing, and tooling.
Our client is interested in hearing about candidates’ previous experiences building large and complex high-throughputweb systems, including stories about microservices, event-driven architectures, databases, or any tech challenges they have enjoyed. They want to know how candidates improved the quality, security, scalability, and observability of the products they worked on and how they would repeat that success at the company. DevOps practices are integral to their culture, and they want to hear candidates’ preferences and adaptations of these practices.
