Senior WordPress Backend/Plugin Developer in New biz

Our project is an innovative educational center that combines Waterfall and Agile practices, where users get access to a graphical encyclopedia and learning opportunities based on artificial intelligence. a strong WordPress engineer who specializes specifically in the development of plugins, understands the internal architecture of the system and can design complex solutions in pure PHP without dependence on third-party modules.

We need not an integrator, but an architect who has created dozens of his own plugins, rewritten heavy modules and worked deeply with the WordPress core.

Your main tasks

1. Development of custom plugins

• Creating complex plugins from scratch.
• Implementation of logic, databases, API, custom tables.
• Optimized, clean, documented PHP code.

2. Rewriting existing plugins

• Analysis of heavy, overloaded third-party modules.
• Rewriting them into light, fast custom solutions.
• Maximum simplification of logic and reduction of technical debt.

3. Deep work with WordPress

• Understanding hooks, filters, kernel, loops, architecture specifics.
• Creating custom post types, taxonomies, metadata.
• Working with WP_Query, custom SQL queries, caching.

4. Integration via API

• Creation of REST/GraphQL endpoints.
• Building backend logic for headless projects.

5. Optimization

• Cleaning the database, optimizing queries.
• Removing redundant dependencies.
• Simplifying WordPress configuration.

Experience required

• 5+ years in the WordPress backend.
• Developed dozens of custom plugins - from small to large systems.
• Deep knowledge of PHP, WordPress architecture and WP Codex.
• Experience rewriting and refactoring third-party solutions.
• Understanding performance, caching, security.
• Ability to work with complex logic and large volumes of dataih.

Will be a plus

• Experience in headless WordPress.
• Working with LMS, documentation systems or large custom logic.
• Experience in high-load or multilingual projects.
