Senior Backend Engineer - Nest.js/API/GraphQL in TrueRank

TrueRank is a leading remote staffing agency helping US startups and SMBs hire top software engineers and designers from Eastern Europe. TrueRank pre-screens and qualifies every candidate for our clients to help them make a quick & informed decision.

Our client is a startup developing APIs to enable embedded commerce within apps and websites. We’re looking for a senior backend engineer that is able to deliver large, complex projects end to end and coordinate features across team members and systems.

Projects will largely be back-end API work such as:

• Build abstractions to encapsulate incoming Amazon orders to be routed across multiple accounts
• Look at logs and debug why some orders get “stuck” in queues or other parts of the API and aren’t able to fully process correctly
• Build ability to scrape emails for tracking information and send that to webhooks
• Make webhooks re-tryable. Reasonable and well thought out retry mechanisms

The position will be remote and you must have 3-5 hours overlap with 9 AM - 5 PM PDT working hours.
 

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, NestJS as a framework
• Experience building and maintaining high-quality APIs, particularly GraphQL (gRPC is a bonus)
• Knowledge of backend architectures, databases (e.g., MongoDB, Firestore), and caching systems (e.g., Redis)
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Github Actions for CI/CD, Sentry, Grafana, and Docker for deploys on Google Cloud Run
• Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
• Intermediate to Advanced English proficiency
• Bonus: Experience with eCommerce platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, or BigCommerce
