We are seeking an experienced Senior Android Engineer (freelance) to join our team and contribute to our client project for at least 3 months.

As a Senior Android Engineer, you will be on the team responsible for helping to bring our innovative mobile products to life. You will collaborate with visual designers and other engineers to deliver apps that push the boundaries of what is possible in the mobile entertainment space. Your passion for building scalable, forward-thinking code is supported by a deep understanding of mobile app development and a curiosity for exploring new technologies.

The Company is a global 3D avatar-based social community of over 4 million monthly active users who come together to connect and enjoy a shared experience. Far beyond today’s digital media, the Client’s users create a whole new social experience where connecting digitally is immersive and interactions feel lifelike. The Client’s chat room experiences are hyper-personal fostering meaningful friendships rather than amassing a large number of shallow, status-based relationships.

Who are we looking for?

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Native mobile application development on Android with fluency in Java and Kotlin;
• A firm grasp of Computer Science fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis;
• Ability to earn the technical respect of the team through personal accomplishments, working in an agile, fast-changing environment, and leading the team to build a great product;
• Deep foundation in computer science combined with demonstrable problem-solving aptitude;
• Extensive experience with and knowledge of client-server applications and RESTful APIs;
• Applied understanding of resource constraints including battery life, network availability, and other mobile-specific issues;
• Comprehensive understanding of Android user interface design and standards, including Material Design;
• Experience in shipping and maintaining apps, with a thorough knowledge of Google Play’s submission process;
• Advanced level of spoken and written English.

NICE TO HAVE

• An eye for design and 2D animation experience with UIKit Dynamics or SpriteKit;
• Strong understanding of Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines as well as interaction design best practices;
• Maintained or significantly contributed to a popular iOS open-source project;
• Experience in shipping and maintaining apps, with thorough knowledge of Apple’s submission process;
• Familiar with other mobile platforms such as Android or mobile-web development frameworks;
• Ability with 3D development on mobile devices, using OpenGL ES, Metal, or Unity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with visual designers and other engineers to create compelling user experiences;
• Implement advanced features to enhance our mobile products;
• Maintain high standards of code quality and implement best practices;
• Optimize applications for maximum performance and scalability;
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs;
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members;
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
