ACAPS devotes its activities to helping humanitarian organizations in making better decisions. We strive to put facts first in the decision-making process. To do this, we cooperate with various partners in the humanitarian sector and beyond. We strive to be an ever-evolving platform that provides:

  • Independent analysis to support adoption decisions based on factual data regarding humanitarian operations. 
  • Involving experts to support assessment and analysis in crisis situations.  
    Innovative approaches to collecting more reliable and timely data and conducting thorough analysis.

Ukraine Analysis Hub

Analytical Center of Ukraine (UAH) ACAPS since March 2022 monitors the conflict in Ukraine and prepares timely, independent and high-quality analytical materials on the humanitarian situation. Since its inception, UAH has produced a comprehensive set of analytical materials, including in-depth analytical reports and datasets, scenario planning workshops, and trainings for Ukrainian humanitarian workers. 
Today we are a team of 13 people, mostly Ukrainian analysts and support staff, working in-country to provide context-oriented, locally informed analysis and support to international NGOs and Ukrainian civil society organizations (CSOs).

ACAPS senior analyst plays a central role in shaping and ensuring the quality of analytical work of UAH. The position involves responsibility for overseeing the planning, production and methodological rigor of analytical products, as well as direct input in the form of analysis preparation and management. The incumbent supports the development and improvement of ACAPS methodologies, leads external capacity-building initiatives, and represents the Center through presentations and trainings for Ukrainian humanitarian organizations.

The Senior Analyst provides supervision and on-the-job training of team members under his/her supervision and promotes the professional growth of the entire team. He also plays a key role in supporting the team leader in networking, partnership and donor engagement. The senior analyst should act as a leading expert on the context of Ukraine within UAH and is a member of the hub's management team together with other senior analysts, a project manager and a civil society advisor. normal">Your responsibilities will include:

Manage the development, production and distribution of UAH analytical materials in accordance with the strategy and goals of the hub.

  • Ensuring timelyrates, methodological accuracy and high quality of all analytical products.
  • Coordinating production processes, including input from editors, communications teams and external consultants.
  • Executing product manager functions: compiling analytical reports and overseeing the full production cycle.
  • Executing product manager functions as needed: providing mentoring and feedback to product managers and supporting analysts on content, methodology and structures.
  • Facilitating collaboration with other ACAPS teams (data services, editors, communications) to ensure consistency and quality.
     
    Analysis of secondary data

    • Monitoring and critical review of assessments, reports and information products regarding Ukraine to track trends and identify information gaps.
    • Facilitating support and improvement of internal management systems with UAH information.

    Evidence-based decision-making support in humanitarian activities through the synthesis and analysis of qualitative and quantitative information.
    Development or adaptation of analytical tools to facilitate continuous monitoring and joint analysis.

    Partnerships and networking

    • Establishing and maintaining relations with key humanitarian stakeholders (UN, international NGOs, national NGOs, CSOs, donors) for information gathering and joint analysis.
    • Representing ACAPS in relevant coordination forums to present and promote ACAPS analysis.
    • Responding to special analytical requests from partners and supporting joint analytical initiatives.
    • Provide technical analytical support and training to humanitarian actors (e.g. scenario building, methodologies).
    • Contribute to fundraising and donors by contributing to concept notes and presenting UAH analysis to external stakeholders.


    Management and capacity building

    • Manage analysts, data analysts and data collectors, including the development of annual work plans and professional development.
    • Provide regular feedback, coaching and mentoring to strengthen individual and team analytical capabilities.
    • Contribute to internal training and mutual learning sessions on analytical skills.
    • As a member of the management team, participate in the strategic planning, positioning and development of UAH within the framework of humanitarian aid in Ukraine.
      Other tasks may be assigned by the team leader according to the needs of the center.

    Competencies

    Required Professional Competencies

    • Master's degree in international relations, political science, conflict studies, humanitarian work, development studies or other relevant social sciences.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in the humanitarian field, including at least 2 years with a focus on research, analysis, advocacy, access or risk management.
    • Excellent knowledge about the conflict ofand its humanitarian implications.
    • Proven ability to develop and conduct quantitative and qualitative humanitarian analysis.
    • Strong methodological expertise, including conflict analysis, conflict sensitivity, and Do No Harm principles.
    • Proven ability to critically assess data quality, address biases, and interpret incomplete or ambiguous data.
    • Experience working with a wide range of humanitarian stakeholders, including donors, the UN, international NGOs and civil society organizations.
    • Excellent analytical writing skills in English and the ability to express complex issues clearly and concisely orally in English and Ukrainian.
    • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, as well as a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.
    • Excellent command of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
