Robotics Team Lead
Kyiv
The Frontline company develops and manufactures robotic systems for the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine. Our mission is to save human lives by robotizing the military. We create complex technical solutions that are changing the rules of warfare right now.
We have formed a cohesive team that is expanding and is looking for an experienced developer for the role of computer vision tech leader. You will work closely with robotics engineers, designers and programmers both at the system level (Linux, Embedded) and algorithmists (Data Science). Artifacts of your team's work will work directly on robotic systems, having a significant impact on the course of tactical-level combat operations.
Given the specifics of the job, we are currently only considering candidates from Kyiv or those ready to relocate. This is important for joint development and regular testing in the laboratory and in the field.
We offer:
- High level of engineering culture, legacy-free projects, short development cycles.
- Direct feedback from crews at the front, regular tests on training grounds.
- Gaining valuable practical skills in collaboration with engineers who have significant experience in military R&D.
- Exchange of experience with members of the professional community, participation in working groups and hackathons (including involving military specialists), etc.
- Options, subject to achievement of key indicators.
Requirements:
- Education or comparable practical experience in the field of computer science, applied mathematics, physics, robotics or related disciplines.
- Work experience in Lead positions from 2 years. General engineering experience from 8 years.
- Must: experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Direct experience in the development of Computer Vision systems at different stages - from prototypes to stable scalable solutions.
- Comprehensive vision of hardware systems, positive experience of combining various technologies into a working hardware and software solution.
- Proficiency in programming languages and knowledge of ecosystems: Python, C/C++, Bash.
- In-depth knowledge and significant experience in operating systems of the Linux family.
- Understanding the basics of management theory. Experience in the development and integration of algorithms for robotics (PID controllers, filters).
- Experience with video stream processing algorithms and libraries (OpenCV and others).
- Experience with codecs, compression libraries and video streaming pipelines (GStreamer, FFmpeg).
- Understanding of Data Science tasks, approaches and tools.
- Understanding of information protection principles, experience in implementing such approaches.
- Experience with ROS/ROS2 and simulators (SITL/HITL, Gazebo) will be a plus.
- Experience with a variety of sensors (cameras, IMU, ultrasonic, LIDAR, distance, tilt sensors, etc.).
- Experience with single-board computers (Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi, BeagleBone), microcontrollers, other systems with limited computing powercapacities
- Programming experience in multi-threaded/multi-process environments.
- Experience with build systems, cross-compilation, virtualization, containerization.
We do not expect full compliance with all the above requirements, we welcome the desire and ability to learn new things. We value proactivity, the ability to form and validate hypotheses in situations with a high level of uncertainty, conduct testing of the system and its parts at different stages of readiness.
What should be done:
- Analyze and specify product requirements, translate them into technical requirements; plan and maintain an implementation roadmap; plan, deploy, and track releases.
- Own the architecture of the software part of the robotic complex, maintain it in a flexible and scalable state.
- Coordinate the work of a team of Embedded developers, Data Science specialists and robotics programmers. Write code directly with them, conduct reviews, implement and maintain a clear product quality management system (comprehensive testing).
- Fill the technical backlog from various sources and maintain it in a state that allows the team to move efficiently in short iterations.
- Interview, onboard and mentor new colleagues.
Conditions:
- Employment through Diya.City
