Since beginning operations in Ukraine in early 2016, HALO has grown into the country's largest international mine action operator. HALO teams conduct hazard area surveys and marking, risk education and demining operations. All employees are trained according to international standards and HALO has developed a set of unique standard operating procedures specifically designed to deal with the mine threat in Ukraine.

Job: Radio operator

The radio operator performs the functions of unit communication coordinator during working hours at the direction of the commander or his deputy. Maintains all communications (radio/cell phone and satellite phone) with all HALO assets within the unit's area of operation, relays information to and from those assets, and maintains an accurate written log of these communications.
Requirements:
Know the methods of drawing up documents; records management.
Know the rules for using reception and communication devices, technical means of document processing, oral and written documentary information, computers and printing devices.
Know the standards of the organizational system administrative documentation; rules for printing business letters on standard forms
Know the principles of ethics and rules of business communication;
Proficiency in programs: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
Written and spoken Ukrainian and/or Russian, spoken English preferred.< /p>
Understand and adhere to the standards set forth in the HALO Safety Policy ;
Perform any other duties in accordance with program standards and operational requirements, including HALO Health and Safety procedures.
Responsibilities
Maintain constantand communication between field operations and unit headquarters.
Monitor and record all conversations (telephone, radio, mobile and satellite calls).
Ensure records of all information received from the fields, to the radio log.
Act as a liaison between the field and the office in the event of an accident, safety incident, or matter requiring senior management involvement.
Follow up for airborne alert warnings and forward this information to all ground HALO teams.
Maintain daily attendance records of all operational personnel in the field, including non-technical survey teams, explosive ordnance risk training teams and teams manual/mechanical demining.
Obtain permission to fly drones on the territory of the unit and maintain communication with drone teams during their work.
Monitor vehicles using GPS tracking devices , to ensure proper compliance with HALO's internal rules and Ukrainian legislation.
Timely report any unplanned field situations, anomalies, or violations of communication procedures to the unit commander/deputy unit commander.
Work within HALO's core values and standards.
Be familiar with and adhere to all HALO policies and procedures.
Follow occupational health, safety, industrial sanitation and fire safety regulations.
