Job Description
The Psychologist will work alongside the Mobile Medical Center and International Medical Corps Security Specialists. The team will work in defined areas to implement and support day-to-day activities and achieve the following outcomes:
Improving the protection environment for children and youth affected by conflict through targeted capacity building of key service providers; enhanced psychosocial support for vulnerable and conflict-affected children, youth and adults; increasing the capacity of local institutions and organizations to respond to the needs of protection and psychosocial support among the affected population; affected families and communities participate in promoting psychosocial well-being and self-care; improving coordination, information sharing and dissemination of best practice in mental health and psychosocial support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Psychological Counseling and Case Management:
- Providing individual psychological counseling, including short-term counseling, to help beneficiaries cope with adverse circumstances
- Implementation of structured psychological services according to evidence-based practice, IASC
Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and other international guidelines:
- Provide primary or secondary support and individual case management services to vulnerable adults and children.
- Provide guidance and support to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support staff who manage psychosocial support cases.
- Assisting in the development and distribution of information materials and media messages about psychosocial well-being (eg coping with stress and helping others) and child protection.
Coordination and System Improvement:
- Coordinated collaboration with the MHPSS team, other INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CORPS program teams, communities and identified community actors to ensure compliance with the standards of the IASC recommendations and ensure they are implemented safely and sustainably.
- Support in strengthening linkages and referral mechanisms for a range of mental health and psychosocial support services and activities.
- Assist in addressing gaps, developing or strengthening counseling mechanisms and supporting case management for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support services in line with the International Medical Corps Mental Health and Psychosocial Support approach and methods.
Psychological activity:
- Conduct/participate in a psychosocial needs assessment in accordance with the IASC (2013) and WHO/UNHCR (2012) Guidelines for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Needs Assessment.
- Organize, support and monitor psychosocial activities for children and young people, parents, adult women and the elderly in public safe places.
- Identify communities with psychosocial needs and provide recommendations for providing psychosocial interventions in priority locations.
- To disseminate information at the community level about the purpose and importance of psychosocial activities and support.
- Disseminate information about psychological well-being (including stress management, positive stress coping, and self-help in target populations).
Capacity Development and Training:
- Adaptation and training support, related to MHPSS knowledge and skills, for partners of the Working Group on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), coordinating, governmental, (l) non-governmental organizations, International Medical Corps staff and others working with vulnerable populations, including the provision of group support and communication approaches with children and adults, as needed.
- Help in identifying and hiring social workers among IDPs and host communities.
- Assist in developing capacity building plans for community social workers to equip them with important skills in psychosocial support and emotional/mental wellbeing.
- Provide on-the-job support to healthcare workers as needed.
International Medical Corps Ukraine and other relevant psychological interventions in the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support program.
Regular documentation of outreach and mobilization activities using agreed. tools to highlight key protection and security issues affecting women and girls. Supporting the tracking of beneficiaries thanks to agreed M&E tools. Keep up-to-date case management records and participate in regular supervisory support sessions. Participate in planning and reporting meetings to ensure standards of care, quality case management and reporting are met. Maintenance of the case management systems of the INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CORPS. Other:

Minimum requirements
- Higher psychological education.
- Demonstrated work experience in psychology or the field of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support.
- Rea experiencelization of group work with children, youth and adults.
- Experience in identifying vulnerable population groups or individuals in need of additional support.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times is essential.
- Positive and professional attitude, ability to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Experience providing clinical supervision of healthcare workers.
- Experience in conducting trainings, seminars and other knowledge and skills sharing events related to psychology or MHPSS.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Written and verbal communication skills in English.
