General Job Information
The role of the Safeguarding Specialist is to ensure safe, dignified and timely referrals to other service providers, as well as in the provision of targeted protection measures, such as Individual Protection Assistance (IPA), which includes financial or in-kind support to those in need. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following tasks: identification of protection needs, vulnerabilities, violations; detection of gaps in referrals and safe referral to specialized service providers; identifying needs and providing assistance in kind or money to eliminate risks in the field of protection; identifying needs and providing psychological first aid.
The employee in this position will be under the direct supervision of the Leading Specialist in Social Work. This position does not involve managing any personnel.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with policies, tools, manuals and guidelines PIN.
- Providing Individual Protection Assistance (IPA), including identifying protection needs and understanding how to address protection gaps, and providing specialized protection support, including through in-kind assistance or cash.
- Mapping available service providers in deployment areas and providing updated information on available services and their accessibility for people with special protection needs.
- Ensuring ethical and confidential data collection during the provision of assistance in individual protection, monitoring and assessment.
- Monitoring/assessing risks in the field of protection based on the instructions of the Adviser on Protection and the Coordinator on Protection Issues in order to provide an analysis of the risks in the field of protection that exist in target communities, and providing recommendations on measures to reduce them; risk monitoring in the field of protection will ensure the involvement of a protection specialist in monitoring the quality of the implementation of the PIN program and its compliance with AAP requirements and basic humanitarian standards in the field of protectionStu.
- Cooperation with other program teams on updating protection issues in order to support the review of tools, support conducting trainings for the Republic of Moldova, cooperation with program teams on AAP issues - holding meetings with community representatives.
- li>Participate in Protection Cluster meetings (in particular GBV and CP AoRs) and other humanitarian coordination meetings that will be held from time to time as directed by the Head.
- Ensuring the implementation of the 5Ws of the Protection Cluster.< /li>
- Providing psychological first aid if necessary. Assessing and addressing needs that contribute to the achievement of protection outcomes that require in-kind or monetary assistance.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in humanities or natural sciences in the field of social sciences, law, health care, humanities or other related field.
- At least two years of work experience in the field of protection, particularly in the field of individual protection, case management, counseling, social work or in another related field.
- Fluency in the Ukrainian language and knowledge of English at an intermediate level.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook .
- Understanding and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for beneficiaries.
- Previous work experience or familiarity with the NGO sector would be an advantage.
