The Danish Refugee Council (DRC)is an international non-governmental organization that promotes and supports long-term solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. 

DRB has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, DRB already has more than 700 employees in Ukraine and will continue to expand significantly in 2024, for rapid emergency response in the sectors of social protection, livelihoods, housing and non-product kits, humanitarian demining and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining), through direct intervention and support of authorized persons and public organizations (NGOs). DRB will continue to implement its suite of long-term solutions to challenges within changing circumstances.

DRB is currently seeking a Social and Legal Protection (SLP) to join the team in < strong>Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

About work

You will supervise the implementation of measures to prevent and responding to cases of violence against women and girls in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. You will be responsible for the management and coordination of activities carried out by the GBV (GBV) response teams. You will provide capacity building and mentoring for Counter-IED Team Leaders to support the process of nationalizing this position. Activities carried out by the GBV response team include GBV case management, psychosocial support activities, creation of safe spaces for women and girls (GBZD), awareness-raising activities and GBV training. The anti-GBN team also provides capacity building and material support to state social services working in the area of ​​anti-GBN and wider GBN case management activities.

You will be based in the office in Mykolaiv, and field activities will be carried out in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

Your main duties will be:

- Coordinate, plan and control all activities related to related to combating GBV, including GBV case management, awareness raising and safe space activities for women and girls, as well as capacity building, ensuring implementation of activities in accordance with minimum standards and best practices. 

- In close collaboration with the Protection Manager and the Lead Anti-Malware Specialist, provide regular capacity building and mentoring for the Anti-Malware Team Leaders to support the development of their program management skills and technical knowledge related to opposition to the GZN. 

- Perform coordination functions on matters of interaction with state bodies and represent the DRB at coordination meetings related to the countermeasures against illegal activities. 

- Perform the functions of the direct manager of the members of the anti-IED team, which includes recruiting personnel, conducting performance evaluations, providing recommendations and support to team members. Assess any training needs of the response teamGZN and develop capacity development plans for team members. 

- Develop and monitor project work plans for the activities of the anti-IED team, develop procurement plans and track project expenditures.

- Prepare quality reports and documentation of activities and ensure their timely submission to the security manager for review and internal information sharing. 

- Assist in the development and implementation of trainings on combating GHG for both GHG actors and non-GHG actors. 

- Assist in the development of project proposals and budgets for the development of new projects. 

- Lead and support anti-IED teams in conducting IED assessments, including preparation of assessment reports. 

- To ensure the coordination of the activities of the anti-criminal activities team with other sectoral measures, in particular with general protection. 

- Ensure compliance with DRB security protocols and procedures. 

- Any other duties that may be assigned by a supervisor or manager, relevant to the achievement of protection objectives. p>

To be successful in the role of Social Protection Manager (SPM), we expect you to have at least 3 years of experience working in prevention and response programs on GBV in a humanitarian setting, including GBV case management, creation of safe spaces for women and girls, and psychosocial support.

Education, experience and competencies required for national candidates:

- Minimum of two years of experience in humanitarian program management.

- Experience in programs aimed at preventing and responding to violence against women and girls and/or empowering women. 

- Team management experience. 

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with victims, staff and stakeholders with diverse backgrounds.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and cope with several responsibilities.

- High level of command of the English language. 

- Knowledge of the Ukrainian language is mandatory. 

In addition, we expect:

- Project management experience including report writing, budget management and team management. 

- Proven track record of building capacity and training team members in both technical and project management skills. 

- Experience working in a security sensitive environment and following team security protocols is an advantage.

- Good computer and IT skills and strong English communication and writing skills .
