The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced humanitarian project manager. Reporting to the Project Office Manager and the Program Director, the project manager will ensure the successful implementation of the project(s) through management and monitoring at all stages of the project cycle, ensuring overall quality. Success in this role will require close and effective collaboration with the project donor(s), internal departments, and an understanding of the project and program management cycle. 

Essential Tasks:

Project Management  

  • Participate in the planning and development of the project implementation process and proactively monitor progress, addressing issues and initiating appropriate corrective actions in coordination with technical leads and partners. 
  • Manage the project(s) (control the budget, timelines, and achievement of goals together with technical departments, ensuring effective allocation and expenditure of funds in accordance with financial requirements of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and donors). 
  • Coordinate the activities of technical departments and provide them with support to ensure high project quality, review and consolidate project reports, communication materials, and other reports as required by the contract with the donor(s), ensuring their timely submission. 
  • Communicate with donor(s) representatives regarding project results, changes, and progress. 
  • Collaborate with PMER to ensure the implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and accountability processes that incorporate feedback in the development of the project(s). 
  • When necessary, facilitate, coordinate, and participate in assessments, conferences, seminars, communities of practice, or other events related to the support of the project(s). 
  • Ensure the relevance of project documentation 

Donor/s support  

  •  Communicate and coordinate the provision support, from URCS units .This may include a process of identifying support needs, developing plans, and overseeing their delivery 
  • Participating and facilitation in the new project development and proposal development considering the URCS strategy 

 Other tasks 

  • Participate in meetings for developing and improving the project management approaches and business processes enterprise 
  • Participating in other matters linked to the PMO operate 

Requirements

Required Knowledge 

  • Higher education or equivalent (in project/program management or related fields, particularly in social sciences  is preferable) 
  • Experience in project management in humanitarian crisis settings or development contexts. 
  • Understanding of key humanitarian response practices and standards, such as SPHERE and others. 
  • General financial, administrative, information, and telecommunications skills, as well as IT/computer skills.  
  • Previous experience in an NGO in a similar position or in an organization (experience with donors such as ECHO, USAID, OCHA, BHA, FCDO, and others will be a significant advantage). 
  • English language proficiency at B2 level or above is mandatory

  • Project management, including planning and scheduling, process development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. 
  • Ability to influence and negotiate, implement changes, and provide remote support. 
  • High communication skills. 
  • Excellent report writing skills.

The Red Cross Society of Ukraine (TCHU) is looking for a dynamic and experienced humanitarian project/project manager. Accountable to the head of the Project Office and the Program Director, the project manager must ensure the successful implementation of the project/projects by managing and monitoring the project/projects at all stages of the project cycle, ensuring overall quality. Success in this role will require close and effective collaboration with the project Donor/Donors, internal departments and an understanding of the project and program management cycle. 

Responsibilities:

Project management

  • Participate in the planning and development of the implementation process of the project/projects, as well as proactively monitor the progress, solving problems and initiating appropriate corrective actions in coordination with the technical departments and the donor/donors
  • Manage the project/projects (monitor budget, timelines, achievement of goals together with technical departments, ensuring effective distribution and spending of funds in accordance with the financial requirements of the TCHU and the donor/donors). 
  • Coordinate the activities of technical departments and provide them with support to ensure high quality of the project, review and consolidation of project reports, communication materials and other reports provided for in the contract with the donor/donors, ensuring their timely submission. 
  • Communicate with donor/donor representatives regarding project/project results, changes, and progress. 
  • Cooperate with PMER to ensure implementation of monitoring, evaluation and accountability processesthose that guarantee consideration of feedback during the development of the project/projects. 
  • As necessary, facilitate, coordinate and participate in evaluations, conferences, workshops, communities of practice or other activities related to the support of the project/projects. 
  • Control the relevance of the documentation of the project/projects. 
This may include the process of identifying support needs, developing plans and overseeing their implementation. Other tasks:

  •  Participation in meetings to develop and improve project management approaches and business processes of the enterprise
  • Participation in other matters related to the activity Project office

Requirements:

Necessary knowledge

  • Higher education or its equivalent (preferably in the field of project/program management or related fields, particularly in the social sciences)
  • Experience in managing projects in humanitarian crises or in a development context. 
  • Understanding of key humanitarian response practices and standards such as SPHERE and others. 
  • General financial, administrative, information and telecommunication skills, as well as information technology skills.  
  • Previous work experience in a NGO in a similar position or organization (experience working with Donors ECHO, USAID, OCHA, BHA, FCDO and others will be a significant advantage)
  • English language at the level of B2 and above required
