Join the ranks of Stiftung Schuler Helfen Leben (SHL), Germany's largest youth-led foundation, as we expand our operations in Ukraine. We are currently seeking a dedicated and talented individual to fill the role of a project coordinator based in Kyiv (or working remotely from other Ukrainian cities).

At SHL, we organize the renowned Social Day, where over 60,000 high school students raise funds to support peers in Southeast Europe, Jordan, and Ukraine. As we establish our second office outside Germany, we are eager to bring on board an exceptional professional like yourself.

This role offers a diverse scope and is structured as a local staff position until the end of June 2025 (extension is preferred, provided that sufficient funding is available). In this position, you will play a crucial role in establishing a youth empowerment program in Ukraine. You will work closely with a colleague who is also part of the Youth Empowerment Program based in Kyiv, ensuring effective collaboration and strong local support. The focus of this program is on encouraging youth activism through informal youth education and the implementation of a small grants program. Thus, the program supports youth who want to play an active role in their society. It is designed to strengthen their skills for effective civic engagement, e.g. through seminars on relevant political or social topics as well as capacity building topics like project management. 

Your role as Project Coordinator will encompass:

  • Establishing and implementing an informal educational program to empower youth to develop a sense of responsibility for their (local) environment, develop capacities for social change and towards a democratic future society
  • (Strategic) conceptualization of this program with strong support from SHL’s teams in Berlin and Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Implementation of a first program cycle, including adaptation of existing seminar contents, acquisition of trainers and participants and their coordination as well as seminar logistics (process planning, reporting, and evaluation)
  • Building robust networks with civil society stakeholders, international organizations and relevant decision-makers
  • Creation of a youth and trainer network
  • Financial planning for the project
  • Providing reporting 

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Genuine motivation to work in an international NGO environment driven by young volunteers
  • Proficiency in planning and implementing informal education initiatives (e.g. youth work, NGO training, teaching)
  • Project management and/or subsidy management experience
  • Ability to work independently, with a structured approach and efficient time management skills
  • Proficiency in English 
  • Experience in working with young people and good communication skills
  • Experience in the field of democracy and human rights is advantageous
  • Regional expertise with intercultural and political sensitivity
