General Position Information
Under the overall direction of the Education Program Lead, Specialist programs (education) supports the program department, ensures the implementation of programs to increase access to education in the region. Works closely with specialists from other aid sectors and the program administrator.
Description of general duties
Internal relations:
- Cooperates with the procurement, logistics, finance department.
- Together with the country management, regional management and the technical head of education, develops the strategy of the education sector for Ukraine, which is consistent with the global education strategy and key policies of PIN.
External relations:
- Actively represents PIN as as necessary in relevant cluster (or working group) meetings and other coordination forums, fostering strong and productive working relationships with key stakeholders in the education sector. Together with the technical head of education, leads technical working groups where opportunities allow.
- Maintains communication with field teams, partner NGOs and other relevant external participants (educational cluster and relevant working groups, special coordination forums) regarding emerging humanitarian needs and conflict dynamics related to education authorities and the sector in general and, if necessary, alerts the line manager to assistance needs and opportunities.
Typical Responsibilities and responsibility:
- Develops the project implementation plan and subsequently monitors its implementation in the Dnipropetrovsk region;
- Responsible for the following activities: 1) restoration of educational institutions, formation of digital -learning centers; 2) improving the qualifications of participants in the educational process; 3) psychosocial support of participants in the educational process;
- Develops a methodology for local facilitators;
- Coordinates work with consortium partners and other stakeholders;
- Responsible for reporting and archiving of the education sector.
Experience and qualifications required
- Master's degree and proven work experience in the education sector, ideally in the field of education in emergency situations;
- Minimum 3 years of work in the education system (school, college, university);
>- Experience working in complex and unstable environments (preferred);
- Understanding the educational context in Ukraine and willingness to work in the field;
- Proven ability to coordinate work with different groups of staff interested parties and local authorities, build and maintain good relationships;
- Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm and strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively with team members ;
- Proven knowledge and respect for key humanitarian principles;
- Experience in facilitation and/or training;
- Computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel) and the ability to type in English;
- Professional command of the English language (mandatory);
- Ability to work in a team and willingness to learn.
