The organization "Man in Need" has been operating in Ukraine since the beginning of August 2014, and since then, humanitarian programs have been rapidly expanding. At this time, "Lyudyna v bidi" is one of the main humanitarian organizations in Ukraine that provides neutral and independent humanitarian assistance to people affected by the conflict.

General information about the employee role:

Under the general direction of the Lead Protection Specialist, the Protection Specialist ensures the implementation of community-level protection programs, coordinates referral mechanisms and supports the vulnerable population's access to specialized services.

Description of general duties: 

Characteristic duties and responsibilities

  • protection monitoring in target communities; 
  • Constantly updates the map of local service providers; 
  • Performs internal and external redirects; 
  • Constantly maintains contact with partner organizations; 
  • Responsible for the implementation of the individual protection program; 
  • Responsible for reporting and archiving of the defense sector. 
  • Conducts regular monitoring of the protection situation in target communities, identifies risks and trends; 
  • Analysiscollects data and prepares analytical reports for management; 
  • Updates the map of local service providers and checks referral relevance; 
  • Ensures implementation of internal and external redirects according to protocols; 
  • Accompanies cases within the limits of individual protection in accordance with SOP; 
  • Controls the quality of implementation of protection measures at the local level; 
  • Ensures proper documentation, database and archiving in accordance with privacy policies; 
  • Prepares regular program and donor reports; 
  • Contributes to the integration of the mainstreaming protection approach into the activities of other areas.

Qualification requirements:

Education and major:

Higher education in social work, law, psychology, humanitarian aid, education, international relations or related disciplines.

Experience by profession:

Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the field of humanitarian protection, social work, support of vulnerable population groups or implementation of humanitarian programs. 

Minimum of 2 years of educational experience in humanitarian, defense or related social programs. 

English language:

The level is basic.

Required knowledge:

  • coordination with clusters;
  • basic principles of individual protection; 
  • reporting and archiving; 
  • PIN security, PSEA and privacy policies. 

Needed skills and qualities: 

  • Organizational and coordination skills; 
  • effective communication with partners and clusters;
  • analytical skills to track needs and risks; 
  • preparation of reports and documentation;
  • responsibility and attention to detail;
  • compliance with ethical standards and confidentiality;
  • ability to work with priorities under high load conditions.

  • Competitive salary according to the PIN salary scale -at the size of 1301 EUR gross +3% after successfully completing the probationary period.
