About the job

The ICRC Logistics Unit is offering a unique opportunity for a highly capable Procurement Team Leader with a medical, pharmaceutical, or health background to join our team in Kyiv. This role, supervising a team of purchasers, will be instrumental in our ICRC projects related to medical, health, and pharmaceutical categories, contributing to our humanitarian mission. The Procurement Team Leader plays a crucial role in fulfilling the requester's demands, ensuring timely and qualitative procurement in strict compliance with ICRC standard procedures. Under the supervision of the Deputy Country Procurement Manager, the Procurement Team Leader is entrusted with implementing the ICRC Purchasing Strategy.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Implement the ICRC's strategic orientations for purchasing, translating them into operational planning and activities
  • Support the ICRC projects in their procurement
  • Ensure that the medical/pharmaceutical standard operations procedures (SOP) are implemented 
  • Manage and supervise a team of Buyers 
  • Responsible for monitoring the availability and quality of goods and services supplied
  • Ensure smooth supplier management (performance, assessment, and documentation).
  • Ensures of having last updated information on the medical market and regulation.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and monitor deliveries to ensure compliance
  • Organize regular meetings with requesters, the pharmacist, and the supply chain team to discuss demand planning, upcoming projects, etc.

About you

To be successful as a Procurement Team Leader, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • Ukrainian citizenship or holding a permanent resident permit in Ukraine.
  • A university degree, preferably in pharmaceutics or equivalent is an advantage
  • Degree (Certifications) in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management is an advantage
  • 6 years of experience in a technical field, including three years in procurement
  • Confidence in managing projects and staff
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
  • Good knowledge of the local market(s)
  • Computer proficiency, including knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Ukrainian
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
