About the company and project:

The position at a company specializing in advanced navigation systems for UAV operations focuses on developing robust solutions that increase autonomy and reliability, especially in environments where GPS may not work. The project involves the development of a satellite image processing algorithm for reliable operation in an unstable environment with GPS and a navigation algorithm for autonomous navigation, return and stay in areas where GPS is unavailable. The first algorithm correlates real-time optical data from UAV-mounted cameras with pre-existing satellite images to determine location. A second algorithm captures the image to create a detailed visual trajectory, allowing the UAV to track its flight or loiter. The technologies are designed to integrate into various platforms, ensuring the survivability of UAVs against radio-electronic interference.

Position:

Tester-engineer pilot

DroneOps is looking for an experienced drone pilot with exceptional communication and leadership skills who is responsible and able to work full-time. The drone test engineer pilot will be responsible for flying the drones, making sure they stay on course and land safely. Primary responsibilities include piloting, maintaining drones, planning flight routes, mapping and collecting data, footage and digital images. The pilot will also perform other drone operations.

Responsibilities:

• Visiting the office in Kyiv several days a week and participating in test flights several times per week
• Maintenance and installation of drones.
• Pre-flight inspection of drones to ensure safe and proper operation.
• Creating flight missions for UAV testing in QGroundControl and making changes to the flight controller configuration.
• Documentation and analysis of flight results.
• Piloting drones (multicopters) in test flights.
• Use of test equipment, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Development, debugging and improvement of hardware and/or software for physical testing of equipment.

Qualifications:

• Ability to pilot
• Basic engineering skills of equipment, soldering, etc.
• Basic knowledge of electronics.
• Experience with various UAV platforms is a plus.
• Experience with ArduPilot, ArduPilot Mission Planner, MAVLink protocol, QGround Control, Mavlink, RFD Tools and Radio Telemetry.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment

Requirements:

• Attention to data preparation and analysis, checking microcomputer components, inspecting objects and working with mechanisms
• Expertise in radio electronics will be a plus
• Proficiency in standard electronic tools and soldering skills
• Knowledge of physics anten, frequencies, directional patterns and REE
• Proven experience as a drone operator with a minimum of 50 flight hours
• Strong attention to detail
• Valid driver's license a plus
• Military experience a plus

Good to have:

• Programming experience.
• Avionics design and testing experience.
• Knowledge of PixHawk flight controllers.
• Understanding of statistics will be a plus
• Hands-on experience with single board computers (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Nvidia Jetson)
• Intermediate level of English (spoken and written )
• Ability to drive your own car (fuel is paid for)
