Primary objective:
Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to beneficiaries in accordance with adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, organization values and universal hygiene standards to improve health beneficiaries.
In addition, this position involves dedicated time and responsibility for the coordination and management of antimicrobial drug (AAP) administration activities at the specified facility(ies).
Responsibilities:
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose the beneficiaries' conditions and prevent complications. Conduct outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment in accordance with the MSF protocols.
- Inform the beneficiary and/or his/her family about the disease and provide appropriate explanations for further treatment, checking that they all
- Monitor the course of the hospitalized beneficiaries/IDP beneficiaries through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment according to the MSF protocols, making decisions about discharge or transfer to other departments - in cooperation with other doctors - and informing the family about the course of the beneficiary's illness.
- Check and monitor the rational distribution of drugs and equipment under his/her responsibility, and take care of the quality, disinfection and sterilization of medical materials.Ensure general compliance with current hygiene standards.
- Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, verify their validity and inform the line manager or the Project Coordinator of any problems or complications of the beneficiary's disease, medical errors, and monitordependent functioning of the department, equipment and materials.
- Ensure constant training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of medical care.
- Know and ensure compliance with all MSF medical protocols, monitor adherence to universal precautions to reduce biological risks and improve infection control. Ensure compliance with professional confidentiality.
- Manage the team under direct supervision in accordance with MSF HR policies and procedures, supervise their work, organize and plan shifts and rotations, directly participate in situations requiring immediate intervention and on-call trips as necessary.

Planning, evaluation and supervision of staff training in order to ensure the necessary level of knowledge and increase capacity for diagnosis and early detection of beneficiary conditions.Lead, support and promote the rational use of antimicrobials in healthcare facilities health across the spectrum of health care.(Establish and) participate in the work of a multidisciplinary committee on the administration of antimicrobial drugs (with established regulations for functioning), an infection control committee (IPC) or a committee on the safety of beneficiaries and the quality of care.Together with the committee, determine the priorities for the rational use of antimicrobial drugs and tasks mission.Monitor, collect and analyze antimicrobial use data submitted to the Multidisciplinary Committee on Antimicrobial Stewardship.Conduct and/or coordinate regular audits related to antimicrobial stewardship priorities. This may include audits of antibiotic use, treatment of specific diseases, indications for microbiological studies and reporting of results.Provide feedback to the project and mission on the results of audits and plan actions for improvement.Coordinate and provide training to other medical, nursing and pharmacy staff on the administration of antimicrobials.Provide support to other clinical staff on antibiotic selection. Cooperate with the laboratory on timely reporting of results (where appropriate). Cooperate with healthy lifestyle promoters to educate beneficiaries and caregiversand regarding treatment with antibiotics. To report to the relevant structures of the Ministry of Health on activities related to the administration of antimicrobial drugs. Participate in the detection, treatment and prevention of healthcare-associated infections in cooperation with the infection control department and the clinical team. education, specialization in general surgery or trauma and orthopedic surgery or physical and rehabilitation medicine.
Preferred: Completion of an online course in antimicrobial stewardship (eg BSAC and/or WHO).Experience:
Knowledge:
- Must:
- Have a working knowledge of typical clinical manifestations and empiric or targeted treatment.
- Understand the mechanisms of action of common antimicrobials drugs.
- Have a basic understanding of the key principles of infection prevention and control (IPIC) and the relationship between IPIC and ABR.
- Be able to apply diagnostic tests in the detection and treatment of infectious diseases.
- Minimum basic computer literacy - Word and Excel.
Desirable:
- Understand the principles behavioral changes.
- Be able to provide personal feedback to doctors regarding the prescription of antibiotics.
Knowledge of languages: fluent in Ukrainian; knowledge of English at B1 level (required).
