Come and join the Extreme Scale Computing team as Applications Research Engineer. We are an advanced applied research organization, developing the next generation of architectures for Graph Analytics and AI. As a Applications Research Engineer you will take part in building a novel hardware prototype where you will be asked to develop applications to showcase performance and functionality. Our research activities are directed towards new proof-of-concept architectures with the focus on programming models, low-level tools, and bare-metal runtime while closely collaborating with our RTL team to co-design high performing solutions. Work will also include enablement of new software frameworks, remote offload, as well as domain specific languages or adopting existing applications to new runtime ecosystem. We are looking for an individual to help define/innovate new software solutions specific to the advanced program needs. Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.

In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.

Important skills and experience:
- Strong C/C++ programming skills
- Knowledge of hardware and software interactions
- Experience with Unix systems development and system level software design
- Experience in hardware and software debugging
- Best practices in software development, continuous integration and release processes
- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken

Nice to have skills and experience:
- ASM programming skills
- Knowledge of CPU architectures
- Experience in distributed frameworks and tools (e.g., gRPC, Kubernetes, containers)
- Experience with hardware accelerators (FPGA, GPU, other)
- Knowledge in Python, data structures, algorithms, and operating systems
- Knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and CPU architecture
