Employee's main activity:
Provide nursing care, treatment and follow-up to beneficiaries in accordance with physician orders, service protocols and universal hygiene standards/safety measures, in order to ensure quality and continuity of care for the target population
Essential Responsibilities:
- Know, promote, implement and adhere to universal hygiene standards/precautions, biohazard prevention and infection control, safety regulations and other protocols and procedures in medical facilities, and ensure high standards of hygiene in your work environment. Constant adherence to medical secrecy and confidentiality.
- Organize and carry out care and treatment in accordance with medical prescriptions, as well as assist during consultations, daily rounds and other medical procedures. Participate in health education with the beneficiary (and family) when necessary.
- Identify victims of sexual and gender-based violence and refer them to the medical team so that they can receive the necessary treatment. Know and understand the importance and proper use of a post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) kit.
- Ensure proper reception and accommodation of beneficiaries, and provide assistance to those who are unable to move independently, especially with regard to feeding, personal hygiene, mobility and comfort. For emergency department and polyclinic nurses — to ensure sorting of beneficiaries in waiting areas, wards or underduring emergency situations, identify priority acute/emergency cases, provide first aid and refer them to a doctor if necessary
- Send material for sterilization and pick it up after sterilization
- Conduct hospitalizations, monitoring and follow-up of beneficiaries (i.e. assessment of their health development and detection of any emergency or deterioration)
- Maintenance and control of administrative procedures and documents (filling in cards beneficiaries, forms, consumables, statistical data, journals, medical records, etc.), ensuring proper written/oral communication and reporting of any problematic situations and incidents that may arise. Participating in data collection and informing physicians/supervisors.
- Participating in the control and maintenance of department pharmaceuticals and medical equipment (quality and functioning, storage conditions, tracking of expired drugs, inventory of drugs and materials at each shift of the team, ensuring that no materials are removed from the nursing area/ward without prior permission, etc.).
- Perform cleaning and minimal maintenance biomedical equipment used. Adherence to operating instructions and protocols, as well as informing the manager in case of malfunctions.
- Supervise and train junior nurses, catering assistants, cleaners and other relevant staff under his/her supervision, ensuring teamwork and adherence to all proper protocols and procedures.
Features of the MSF unit:
- Collaboration with the doctor of the mobile field clinic.
- Conducting clinical consultations - physically in the care centers abroad or through teleconsultations/remote consultations.
- Great attention to the education of the beneficiaries, regarding drug therapy, monitoring of blood pressure and monitoring of blood sugar levels.
- Arranging supported internal referrals to MSF departments such as Psychosocial Support for Mental Health and Health Promotion.
- Refer beneficiaries to external services as needed, including mental health, protection, emergency resources and social services, based on an available actor map.
- Support general outpatient consultations, active interventions on screening for tuberculosis and teleconsultations (remote consultations for areas that are no longer physically accessible).
- Conducting a weekly inventory of pharmacological preparations of mobile clinics and packing boxes for teleconsultations.
- Working as part of mobile clinics in the east of Ukraine. Locations may change depending on changing needs and context. The MSF project "Dnipro East" currently covers Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Kharkiv regions.
- The work schedule is from Monday to Friday on a rotational basis, with overnight stays, rotation between different operational bases (currently the Dnipro, Pavlograd and Barvinkovo bases).
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Recognized Diploma in Nursing required
Experience:
- 2 years of previous experience and previous experience in other NGOs preferred
Languages:fluency in Ukrainian; knowledge of English preferred.
