This is a mobile position based in Kyiv coordination office and to travel to different locations.
Main purpose:
The Outreach Nurse provides mobile, community-based nursing support in community and to residents of high-rise and multi-storey residential buildings in Kyiv. The role focuses on supporting vulnerable populations, and connecting
residents to health, protection and social supports.
The nurse works as part of a multi-disciplinary emergency response team in coordination with government services and humanitarian partners.
Context Specific Accountabilities
- Conduct rapid patient assessments in outreach settings, prioritizing acute or emergency cases; refer and escalate urgent medical or protection concerns to appropriate services
- Conduct rapid health outreach in high-rise and multi-storey residential buildings in Kyiv.
- Identify and support vulnerable residents (older adults, people with disabilities, residents with limited autonomy, families with children, IDPs)
- Connect residents to primary care, mental health services, social services, protection support, and emergency resources
- Perform basic health assessments related to cold exposure, mobility risks, respiratory conditions, chronic disease exacerbation.
- Identify signs of hypothermia, frostbite, dehydration, infection, and other winter-related health risks and refer to medical facilities when necessary.
- Provide basic nursing care within scope of practice (vital signs, wound care, health education)
- Identify and support survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), referring them for medical or psychosocial care as needed
- Educate residents on winter safety, safe heating, fall prevention, and emergency preparedness
- Support distribution of winterization and emergency relief items
- Maintain records of assessments, interventions, referrals, and supplies distributed.
- Contribute to regular reporting, including weekly Situation Reports (SitReps), documenting identified medical needs, referrals, and outcomes.
Education
- Essential recognized nurse degree/diploma
Experience
- Desirable 2- 3 years of previous experience in outreac/outpatient settings. Previous experience in other NGO’s
- Experience working with Geriatrics is an asset
