Be Valued™ at the American Heart Association by following us on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and at heart.org.Strategic LeadershipProvide strategic leadership to the meetings & events team.Lead and partner with the management team responsible for this work overall.Create and lead strong processes to increase experiences and support strategic plans.Strategic Meeting Planning & StrategyOversee critical events, including Scientific Sessions, International Stroke Conference, and specialty conferences.Leverage expertise in logistics and business operations to ensure seamless execution and financial success through comprehensive business plans.Develop and maintain systematic automated processes for optimal meeting management.Ensure timely, effective, and efficient planning and logistical support for online and live events.Create and execute strategies toMaintain, grow, and generate new revenue streams through optimal registration, exhibitor recruitment, sponsorship retention, expansion of new ideas, and secure grant awards as part of existing revenue to support innovative programming.Expense Budget ManagementCreate new opportunities related to expense budget management.Accurately forecast revenue and expenses.Ethically negotiate requests for proposals, contracts, and agreements related to venues, housing, exhibitions, sponsorship, travel, online, and mobile vendors.Cross-Departmental Support & CollaborationProvide robust logistic and venue support to other departments within the American Heart Association.Recruit and manage volunteers at all levels for multiple events.Extend your influence beyond revenue-generating events by assisting other departments in planning and executing over 400 corporate meetings annually.Contribute to the board of director meetings/functions and corporate philanthropic events.EducationBachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or equivalent work experience.CertificationCMP (Certified Meeting Professional) is required.ExperienceA minimum of ten (10) years prior experience in medical or healthcare meeting planning. industry.Prior experience in product development, life cycle revenue, and expense planning.SkillsSeasoned at managing large teams with the ability to empower others, develop individuals, and lead through change managementHighly collaborative with the ability to operate in team environments, brainstorm, and communicate with colleaguesStrong business analytical acumen.Excellent strategic planner and executor with strong problem-solving skills.Demonstrates strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, including volunteer managementWillingness to travel overnight, approximately 25% of the time.Preferred SkillsKnowledge and/or experience with voluntary health organizations or nonprofit organizations.Advanced Degree in Hospitality Management or Business (MBA).The American Heart Association invests in its people.
