Background

GENERAL

The following deliveries are expected from the position:

1. Provide capacity building to the TPM Mine Action team and relevant Mine Action stakeholders to enhance their ability to identify contamination, assess humanitarian needs, and address gaps in Mine Action response across Ukraine.

2. Facilitate mobile data collection, form development, and data management.

3. Generate statistical reports, graphs, and maps and follow up on Mibe Action specific trends.

4. Support new and ongoing assessments by Mine Action staekholders.

5. Advise Mine Action steakholders on IM best practices.

6. Provide regular reports on progress made, main challenges/constraints faced, and recommend corrective actions.

7. Perform any other information management duties as assigned by management.


KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Presentation

Additionally, the IMO is tasked to improve the accuracy of the data held by iMMAP Inc. and to improve and effectiveness the distribution of materials.

The IMO will support all goals and strategies of the iMMAP Inc. programme in its work with national partners, international partners and applicable donor agencies.

The IMO will develop and maintain constant and good contact with Mine Action and huanitarian partners.

Operational

  • The IMO will proactively gather information from sector partners, and government authorities which may be of use to the sector for informing decisions;
  • The IMO will identify gaps in current implementing partner participants and will engage with Mine Action steakholders, NGOs, and humanitarian and development organizations to restore renew or join participation in data sharing or IM support.
  • The IMO will identify barriers to the information collection, collation, analysis, and sharing.
  • The IMO will ensure timely preparation and generation of information products, and support information sharing and dissemination through web platforms to all relevant humanitarian implementing partners.
  • The IMO will adapt appropriate existing IM tools including those available in-country (including from other sectors) and global level. As appropriate, design of data collection forms, ensuring that the purpose and use of all data collected is clear, collectible, and easily collectible, highlighting where potential problems might arise; organize and manage the data input and initial analysis and presentation of data for the sector;
  • The IMO will develop standard formats for, and regular output of publication of materials and statistics highlighting the Mine Action situation in the country upon request.
  • The IMO will facilitate mobile data collection, form development, and data management.
  • The IMO will generate statistical reports, graphs, and maps and follow up on Mine Action-specific trends.
  • The IMO will support new and ongoing assessments.
  • Collect and consolidate data from various partners, prepare and submit reports on regular bases
  • Manage, analyze, and document data and information from Mine Action steakholders and INGOs interventions
  • Map assistance coverage in the specified area, analyze and report the potential gaps
  • Produce, and share maps illustrating the scale/coverage of assistance
  • Record, document, and share coordination meeting minutes
  • Maintain databases, and provide data entry if required
  • Establish and maintain a filing and documentation system accessible for Mine Action partners working in the area


Mapping - specific

  • The IMO will develop maps of 4Ws, sector resources, needs, and Gaps per location;
  • The IMO will maintain geospatial databases and ensure data quality and integrity through the use of automated and manual techniques to enter, edit and process data sets;


Representation

  • The IMO will attend periodic information management meetings with the iMMAP Inc. IMO team and country director to share updates on ongoing IM products and activities and promote good practices in the organization.
  • The IMO will provide specific, sometimes dedicated, support to other agencies when required.

Requirements

Please note that this is a national position in Ukraine. Only citizens of Ukraine are allowed.

REQUIRED:

  • University degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Information Science, Geographical Information Systems, Computer Science, or other relevant fields.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in the field of Information Management is essential;
  • Experience in data processing and analysis, creation of reports;
  • Experience in the use of software, such as ArcGIS, and Adobe Illustrator;
  • Excellent command of Office suite applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • English level- at least Intermediate.


DESIRED:

  • Relevant experience in working with a UN agency or another humanitarian agency is desirable;
  • A minimum of six (6) years of work experience in the field of Information Management is desirable;
  • Experience in the area of emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, humanitarian/development environment, and field coordination is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal and general communication skills;
  • A strong service orientation;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in a multicultural environment.

Operational activities

  • Actively collect information from sector partners and government bodies that can be useful for decision-making in the sector.

  • Identify gaps among current implementing partners and interact with mine action stakeholders, NGOs, humanitarian and development organizations to restore or expand participation in data sharing or IM support.

  • Identify barriers in the collection, systematization, analysis and sharing of information.

  • Ensure timely preparation and creation of information products, support sharing and dissemination of information through web platforms among all relevant humanitarian partners.

  • Adapt existing information management tools, including those already in use at the country or global level; develop data collection forms, ensuring clarity of the purpose of collection, ease of filling and avoidance of potential problems; organize data entry, their primary analysis and presentation to the sector.

  • Develop standard formats and regularly issue information materials and statistics highlighting the situation in the field of mine action in the country.

  • Carry out mobile data collection, form development and data management.

  • Prepare statistical reports, graphs, maps and monitor specific trends.

  • Support new and ongoing assessments.

  • Collect and consolidate data from various partners, prepare and submit regular reports.

  • Manage, analyze and document data and information from mine action stakeholders and INGOs.

  • Map aid coverage in a given area, anaidentify and report potential gaps.

  • Create and distribute maps illustrating the scope/coverage of assistance.

  • Keep minutes of coordination meetings and share them.

  • Maintain databases and perform data entry as needed.

  • Create and maintain an archiving and documentation system accessible to partners with mine action in the region.

Mapping activities

  • Develop maps of the 4Ws, sector resources, needs and gaps by location.

  • Maintain geospatial databases, ensure data quality and integrity through automated and manual data set entry, editing and processing methods.

Representative activities

  • Participate in periodic meetings of the IMO iMMAP Inc. team. and with the Country Director to share updates on information products and activities, and to promote best practices within the organization.

  • Provide specialized support to other agencies as needed.

Requirements

Mandatory requirements:

  • Higher education (bachelor degree or higher) in the field of information sciences, geo-information systems, computer sciences or other related areas.

  • At least 3 years of experience in the field of information management.

  • Experience in processing and data analysis, report creation.

  • Experience with software such as ArcGIS and Adobe Illustrator.

  • Excellent command of the MS Office package (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

  • The level of English is not lower than Intermediate.

Desirable:

  • Work experience in UN agencies or other humanitarian organizations.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in information management.

  • Experience in emergency situations, crisis response, humanitarian environment or field coordination.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Orientation to provide quality services.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a multicultural environment.
