About the job 

The ICRC Movement Cooperation Department is seeking a highly capable Movement Cooperation Officer to join our team in Kharkiv. The Movement Cooperation Officer assists the line manager in implementing the Sub-Delegation’s Cooperation objectives. S/he contributes to implementing these with the Ukraine Red Cross Society (URCS) in Kharkiv, Poltava, and Sumy at regional, hromada, and raion levels in line with the ICRC’s Cooperation policy, and the Delegation’s strategy for partnership. S/he works for maintaining a healthy partnership, closely works with operational programs for effective program implementation and makes regular field visits to the URCS’ said branches for facilitating the operational partnership and strengthening the URCS capacities as well as keeping the hierarchy informed of the changes in the field.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to implementing the operational partnership between the ICRC and the URCS
  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the URCS to contribute in setting strategy and objectives for capacity-building
  • Take trips to the field to prepare and attend in joint assessments, facilitate the ongoing programs with the URCS
  • Build and maintain an open line of communication with URCS staff on capacity-building needs and support
  • Overview the URCS activities, keep the Cooperation colleagues informed of the matters of concern and the issues if any, that could have impact on the Cooperation’s work
  • Ensure that the URCS provides operational narrative and financial reports on a regular basis and according to established formats and procedures
  • Mobilize the relevant resources to provide necessary training and regular coaching to the URCS staff
  • Facilitate contacts between ICRC sub-delegation’s operational departments and URCS branches

About you

To be successful as a Movement Cooperation Officer in the ICRC, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Typically, 3-5 years’ experience in the field relevant to Movement Cooperation (inside or outside the ICRC)
  • Fluent command of English, Ukrainian, and Russian
  • Computer proficiency
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
  • Confidence in managing projects and staff
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
